Power Cleavage!!!
All the discussions of bra engineering on the Sahar thread have been quite enlightening and thought-provoking.
I'm an AA-cup and learning to make the most of what I have...easier said than done, I know. As far as implants: I have zero threshold for pain, anesthesia makes me violently ill, and I'm horrified even of medical procedures as simple as bloodwork. Great for others, definitely not for a weenie like me!.
A-cuppers of Bhuz, talk to me: what are your BEST non-surgical methods for playing up your "assets"? Give me the tried-and-true, the traditional, the outrageous, the hilarious, the drag-queen-tested, the Dina approved....you name it. Cautionary horror stories are welcome, too!
As for me, I'm a fan of "chicken fillets," used with a dash of bronzing powder and shimmer to highlight and contour. And buying costumes meant for an A-cup is SO much more flattering than buying a C and stuffing with pads ..g.:
It'll be a trip to see where this thread goes .w.:

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Drag queen told me this one. . .
You buy a Nerf soft ball. Cut it in half. Shape the flat part to your chest. Cover with a stocking and place on the lower outside edge of the cup. Then you try on the bra and sculpt as needed or desird until you get the size and shape you are looking for.
I know someone who used to do this. She was a barely A but bought all of her costumes in C - D.
The other thing I have seen done is buying actual implants and building them into the bra. heavier thoguh.

2" upholstery foam, cut into half circles and placed at the bottom and outside of the bra cups.

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhahahahahahahahahaha that is BRILLIANT, Tahira!
I just might have to try the Nerf trick. I imagine you'd have to affix the ball to the cup somehow, so you don't turn into a Nerf Bazooka during a vigorous drum solo .w.:
Really, I'm much more inclined to believe tips from drag queens, as they probably have about as much to work with up top as I do!
You could probably experiment with different Nerf looks: basketballs for that Dolly Parton look, footballs if you're going for Madonna, softballs if you're looking for something a little more modest....
Too funny

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Fill the ENTIRE cup with padding (nerfs are good, may need stiffer. I just remember a rather soft and squooshy nerfball but maybe they're harder now). Push the girls up against the wall and they'll stand up.
Also angle angle angle... Don't sew your bra cups closer! To create a fuller bust, keep the bra cups a proportional distance and pad from the SIDES. This from a former 2 pencil tip erasers on an ironing board. Halter straps are the most flattering and logistically helpful. All of the costumes you bought from me are totally paddable, baby!
The silicone inserts aren't so bad, either. You could sew a pocket in each bra and stick 'em in depending on which costume you're wearing.
But really, the most cleavage enhancing bra I one owned had no space for breast tissue so my tits had no choice but to come up to the top! (I just had to make sure the nipples didn't pop up!).Last edited by Azhia; 03-13-2008 at 03:37 PM.

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Hi all!
Well, if you look at clothes and lingerie for women who have had mastectomies (waaaay worse than a AA cup); other than the funky implants, sometimes they will simply emphasize the cup with extra coins, ruffles, lace, beads...something decorative to just add a little bump. You could also revel in your petite ta-ta's by wearing a sexy silk chemise, sequined or not, with split harems and straight panels, beaded belt...it would look great. Don't buy into the 'must have' big boobs idea; it just ain't so. Think 1920's glam...

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Angle straps inward, keep all straps as tight as possible to prevent what you've got from sinking back down into the cup (or creating a gap in between the bra and your chest). I use the add-a-size bra pads at Jo-Anns. Cut it to fit the bra (they're usually too big around) and angle that padding inward. Add more padding if necessary. Most of my bras are filled to about 90% capacity before I put them on :) Don't buy bras that are too big for your frame, as it'll look obvious. I don't bother with contouring as I would probably sweat if off into a streaky mess!

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
That's why I just use socks. Easier to wash too. ;)
One of the most important factors in creating good cleavage is to make sure your rib cage strap is really tight. Then stuff the cups silly and create a shelf for the girls...fold the nipples back down and if necessary tape 'em in.

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
I've always used shoulder pads, folded in half and tacked into the cups - on an angle. Leaves maybe 1/2 - 1/3 of the space left for me to "rest" on top of and show some cleavage up and towards the center.
Using a bronzer on the curves helps to define them too.
I noticed the other day that Fabricland (here in Canada) now sells bra inserts. They look pretty real! One of my friends said she was going to sew snaps to the edge of them, and matching snaps to the inside of all her new costumes so the the boobs can be moved from bra to bra. Can't wait to hear how this works... ;-)

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Another socks girl here ;-) Nice and warm, easily washable.
I pin them into already padded costumes, and vary the kind of socks depending on the amount of extra 'oomph' needed.
So glam!

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
I used to be a AA cup and thought I would never be bigger than a B. Oh the irony.
I think small boobs can look really sexy actually, and agree that you don't necessarily need to pad and emphasise if you don't want to. Texture is really good for creating a fuller cup look effectively - ruching especially. And as for getting a boob job, I'll tell you what. There is a famous Mature Age belly dancer who has (and has always had) a really hot body, and she got some tasteful implants a while ago. And sure, they look nice, but honestly, I look at her old videos from before the implants and I honestly think her figure looked sexier.

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
Zum, I was kinda actually hoping somebody would say that ..l;,
Padding is a necessary evil on certain bra styles where a little more oomph is needed (Emans, Sahars, etc.), or to make things look proportional....but the reality is that I couldn't get cleavage if I duct-taped my tits together. Though I always try to enhance what I've got, I've given up on actively trying to look busty! Ain't gonna happen.
But it works with my frame, and so many men have told me that they find my small boobs sexy. Part of the reason I wouldn't do implants is that I'm 4'11", small boned, and solid muscle where there actually is any true mass to speak of. Implants would probably make me feel more disproportionate than I look with tiny boobs to match my tiny, well, everything else ..l;, It's all a personal choice, though!
I think we should enhance and adore and make the most of whatever we've got: large or small, asymmetrical or symmetrical, real or manmade, regardless of age, shape, size, or nippleage.
As far as I'm concerned, any client who won't hire me because my tits aren't big enough can kiss my round, perky, shapely, slightly-jiggly-yet-so-firm-you-could-bounce-a-quarter-off-of-it ass! ..l;, ..l;, ..l;,
Still reluctant to stuff with socks, Khalida. How in the hell do you anchor them in???? .w.:

If you ever tried costumes on at Audrena's...she uses BEANIE BABIES! I almost lost it when she handed them over the curtain to the dressing room...BUT they worked! I think the frog...and the pig work best! haha!

Just be thankful that your lovely little breasts are just that, and that they aren't the size of your husband's head (which mine used to be). Big breasts really are just a huge pain in the back (not to mention really difficult to costume). And now we return to the thread already in progress. ..g.:

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
I agree with filling the entire cup with cotton. My bras are stuffed like a sofa...
Personally I don't like halter straps though. I am already an A-shape and halters make me look even narrower on top. But a lot depends on where you place the straps on your bra. Just experiment a little and make sure that there's no gap when you lift your arms.

WTF, Tanya? ..l;, ..l;, ..l;, .w.: .w.:
I mean, I could see where all the little tiny beans would conform nicely to your shape and everything (I think drag queens make fabric pouches filled with birdseed)....but BEANIE BABIES?
I'm just getting the funniest mental image of doing a big shoulder shimmy and all of a sudden a menagerie of pigs and frogs sailing into the crowd. I mean....how do you explain THAT?
..l;, ..l;, ..l;,
I knew this thread would take a surprise turn.

Re: Power Cleavage!!!
What's a nerf ball?? .w.:
i ditto the stuffing with cotton (i use the light cotton stuffing for soft toys). I stuff mine by unpicking the lining, over-stuffing the entire cup then re-sewing the lining in place. it's not hard stuffing, and there's a bit of give in the padding when you put the bra on, hence the over-stuffing. i had a friend over the other day and she picked up one of my bras, looking perplexed, and asked "where do your boobs go?" ,f:: ..l;,
i don't use silicon padding because it's too heavy, and i don't want strap marks on my skin after dancing, especially if a costume change is involved (nothing looks worse then splotchy red marks on pale skin). if i did use them i'd add pockets to the lining (like what you see on some padded bras). plus i had a bad experience at a fashion show once where a fillet poked out the side of my bikini top. .w.: since then i double tape all edges to ensure NOTHING moves or pops out!!! ..l;, ..l;, ..l;,
another ditto to halter straps and contouring with powder.

I think I'll prefer sailing beany babies into the crowd instead of slippery chicken cutles thingies....wait, that's why I pad most of my bra's with cotton socks too! You always have a clean pair of socks at hand.

Sumaya: you, me and Azhia should totally form a 4'11" troupe ..l;,
Really, I NEVER would have thought that socks would be such a common method of stuffing. I'm perplexed: do you guys wad them? Do you fold them? Do you sew them in, or just shove 'em in and run?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

OMG I'm 4'11" too!
I have had the pleasure (?) of using Audrena's beanie babies and I must say they do a good job but I sadly still needed more padding :(
