Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has a really good tip for keeping tie on ponytails in place. I have worn them for awhile but usually don't do alot of fast spins in them. Shows this weekend require my fast (multiple) spins and I am worried about the weight of the pony pulling loose. I wear 2 together to give extra volume. Suggestions?? I don't wanna end up in the bloopers thread!! LOL

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
Sorry, never used hair pieces but what about hair clips or small banana clips?

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
I have used those as I have a long pony that has the clip. I wrap the hell out of it and it stays in place. Unfortunately, I love changing my hair colour so that one doesn't match anymore. Thanks tho...I'll go look at them and see if mounting them on a clip is an option. Don't think so though. :(

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
There is usually a net in behind the big clip, use small hair pins to fasten the tail. When i used to wear mine i used to have the clip and about 12 hair pins just to be sure. I once borrowed a friends tail since i had changed my hair colour and i remember she had taken the clip out and just used hair pins wich she pinned through the net behind the clip. Suprisingly, it looked more natural without the big clip.
I got very tired of wearing those tails and bought some clip-in extensions, they are great, i can really recommend them. Very easy to use.

Does it have a drawstring? I always take it and wrap it around the ponytail after it is in place and then tuck it, so u can not see the strings.

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
Yes, this is what I usually do but when I tried today, it did slip down. Now, I didn't tie everything off quite as tight as normal as it was a trial run and it's a pain to undo but it worried me that it slipped at all. I sewed a couple more combs to the underside so I am hoping that will help but keep the suggestions coming. :)
Oh, and I have another pony that matches on a clip. I took the clip off. Thanks for the tip! I'm a dope and didn't even realize I could do that!! It's even longer than the ones I plan on wearing so will save that one for a less energetic piece. ;)

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
I had a tie-on extension that had a comb attached to the webbing, and it was for clipping above my natural ponytail. It would hold it well in place, though would stick into my head (outch!). What about threading the ties through your ponytail elastic, instead of just tying around it?

Yes, this is the same kind I think. Normally the comb and ties are enough. I will try threading it through elastics. Gosh, such a pain though...they are curly pony's and I have curly hair. Makes for a nice big tangle when I'm done. ,f:: Maybe a giant matte will keep the pony in place?? ..l;,

I use some blingy chop sticks to secure the tail. Poke them thru the fake and real while twirling the stick in a circular motion. It adds a lot of structural support. Works well with or without the big clip.

Lots and lots of hair pins. . .
I like Anala's idea as well. It can add bling!

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
Make sure your base/bun is very "grabby." Since you have curly hair already, it gives a lot for the comb to grab onto.
You can make it even more secure by tying your natural hair off in a high ponytail, back comb the S*** out of it, and then wrap it into a bun, secure as you normally would. Then the combs in your hair falls have something good to grab onto.

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
I got them on ebay last summer. First i purchased some extensions from an "ebaygangster" who just took my money and disapeared. Apparantly they had run out of stock and could not tell buyers. They had some good feedback so i thought it was safe. But it seemed as it it was the new trend, selling hair extensions which they didn´t have because several ebaystores were doing it. I had to sue them and two months later paypal gave me my money back.Where did you get your clip in extensions?
So be careful when you pick who to buy from... .p::
The name of the store which i bought from is Edens hair extensions. I know ladies who have bought from them since then and it was fine.
eBay Store – EDENS CLIP-IN HUMAN HAIR EXTENSIONS: Search results for hair extensions.

Re: Tips for tie on hairpieces/
I am now inspired! I think though that I will try to find a place local to go in and buy some so I can compare it with my hair color.
