Spinoff: Airbrush Tan
I am considering getting an airbrush tan before I leave for vacation. Can anyone tell me pros and cons as opposed to getting in the spray booth? How long does the color last? Will it stay on in chlorinated water, or get all splotchy? I have tried the gradula self tanning lotions and a self tan mousse before and always ended up streaky. Even after exfoliating first. I thought maybe the airbrush would be better.

I had a lady offering that stuff say that it can last up to three weeks depending how often you shower (!?). She charges $50 per session. Haven't tried it so that's all I know. :) Curious too!

Re: Spinoff: Airbrush Tan
I've had an airbrush tan. In my experience it doesn't last any longer than normal tanning lotions/tanning booth. Some places recommend two sessions, and in that case purely because there is a time lag between the two sessions, you'll find it 'lasts' a little longer. It *is* fab - the main thing is about the skill of the person doing the tan, they can slim down bits of you by shading, plus give you a custom colour. It's so expensive though, I would only get it done now for very special occasions, as I am hooked on Dove hint of summer lotion.

aloha
this will sound nuts, as i'm from hawaii, but i get the airbrush tan bfore majorgigs/events.
i'm phobic about skin cancer and adding to my freckles...
a tan helps show definition in the body. it helps you were more challenging colors (neon? anyone)
you can actually wear LESS makeup w/ a 'tan', and look great
tan fat is better than pale fat, imho
it lasts for about 10 days and is worth every penny. you need a good spray artist and need to GET THE RIGHT SHADE!!
have fun!
it's also great to start your tan before hitting the beach or trying on bathing suits! don't spray the day of the event-sweat will kill your results!

Re: Spinoff: Airbrush Tan
I've never paid more than $25 for a Mystic tanning booth session, but I also live in a very metropolitan area, where all the tanning salons compete.
Mystic tans are freaky.. not perfect, but worth it typically for the price. If I get any dark tan spots where I don't want them (feet, hands, inner arms, in between breasts) I can usually exfoliate like crazy and it will fade out a bit.
Haven't had an airbrush session yet, but I'm thinking of trying one out this April for a performance. Outrageously cheap price at 35.00, and has been well recommended by other people in my area.

How do you know if the artist is good at applying it? Are there questions I should be asking? I want to be tanned up before heading to Fl as my pale arse might scare the people at the water parks!
