    Clip on earrings

Actually they have the screw back....
Is there a way to change them to pierced earrings?

    Re: Clip on earrings

It depends on the earring. I would have to actually see how they are attached to the current screw back but usually this is a fairly easy operation that can be achieved using a pair of round nosed jewelery pliers.

Basically, in the normal course of events, you use the pliers to 'unroll' the wire loop at the top of the earring where it attaches to the screw fitting (this is what I am presuming to be the case). Then you hook the open loop onto/through the pierced fitting and close the loop again with the pliers.

Using jewelery pliers takes a bit of practice but most people soon pick up the knack.

Hmmmm..... Let me post a picture of the back of the earring tonight.
To the untrained eye (me) it looks like it is welded together.

I have a show on Sunday. I'd like to wear them, but I'm afraid them will go flying off. It's a slow song, but I migh spin at the end.

I've done lots of screwback and clip earring conversions. Sometimes you have to be pretty creative. It all depends on how they're put together. I look forward to seeing your pic.

    Re: Clip on earrings

I've converted a couple myself. I prefer to have a jewelry store do it, but I had one pair that the jewelry store claimed they "couldn't" do - so I did 'em myself. I had to solder a pair of posts onto the earrings after I cut the clip mechanism off - the jewelry store didn't have my type of soldering equipment and was afraid they'd ruin the rhinestones. They turned out fine when I did them myself.

Yes, you are right, these have been soldered. However, someone who has done even fairly basic-level silver smithing should be able to change the fitting for you. All it needs it the right sort of solder, and someone who knows how to use the tools.
