Thread: L. Rose Designs - Anyone ordered?

I was checking out photos on Bhuz and see a lot of L. Rose Design costumes. I am interested in ordering from them. Have you ordered from them? Are they good to work with? How is the quality? It looks great, just want a few opinions...g.:

I just got a big box from L. Rose full of 6 troupe costumes; I ordered on February 20, they got here on March 25 (I had requested by April 1) -- they called to confirm the neckline of the dresses, and when I added to the order they were lovely about that. The quality is beautiful, the fabric is high quality, the colors are wonderful (though you should order swatches if you're trying to match/coordinate). I've ordered from them before and always the quality and service have been above reproach. I will warn you that they get very busy and it is best to allow 6-8 weeks for a large order (troupe orders, especially). I don't think you need to worry about anything except which lovely color or design to order...

They're lovely to work with, and their pieces wear very well. They are also excellent about getting your order to you in advance of a deadline, and you can rush your order for an extra $10.

There ARE a few tricks to ordering something that fits well - especially if you're ordering a trumpet skirt, be sure to add an inch or two to the length (depending on your booty size) so your skirt is the correct length....

Wonderful quality and service and as you've probably noticed on the swap pages, they hold their resale value well.

I love the L Rose trumpet skirts - see Lilya's comment about adding a bit of length to your request - as well as all of the different gauntlet/sleeve options they have. Their tops are cute for class, or even for troupe costuming without spending too much. I've ordered from them pretty regularly since 2001 (they made the vest I wore in my wedding) and they're always really nice to deal with.

I love supporting efficient, mom & pop businesses. I get all my pants from them and am about to start purchasing skirts. They are a truly positive and professional family business. They're swamped from Rakkasah at the moment but if you don't need a rush I would definitely suggest making a purchase with them some time in the future. :)

They are my absolute favorite place to order from, they have a wonderful selection of fabrics and styles and their customer service is extraordinary. If you have any questions or concerns about a style or about specific ways that you want your costume to fit or look they will always talk through it with you until you are sure that you are ordering exactly the costume that is right for you.
I second the idea or ordering fabric samples ahead of time.

I want to add that the trumpet skirt I got from them is the most comfortable an flattering costume piece that I own, I recommend getting one!

Laura (sp?) is great to work with. If you want neckline that isn't in her catalog or online - she will work with you. If you want your skirt gores on the trumpet skirt higher, she will work with you. I love her! I just ordered a belady dress with holes on the sides and shoulders and a sweetheart neck line. It turned out fantastic!

Another huge L Rose fan! Their trumpet skirts are the ultimate flattery. I've ordered individually and for my troupe and had amazing, above-and-beyond service on every occasion.

I recommend calling rather than e-mailing. I'm not a phone person, but on the phone, Lora will ask about your height, make sure your skirt is long enough, etc etc etc.

Ditto the comments regarding the trumpet skirts. They are awesome...I have 4 and have requested fabric samples for another. I also have 4 of her silk veils and 3 tops.

I've never tried one of their Trumpet skirts ,r:; , but there just isn't a better vendor to work with. Their quality is tops, their service is first rate, and their products are beautiful! I won't buy dance pants anywhere else - they make them with a reinforcing gusset in the crotch - haven't busted out a pair yet!

I have 6 or 7 skirt/gauntlet/u-top sets from them, with different skirt and sleeve options. The quality and fit is beyond compare, and for a shortie like me having a skirt custom made to the perfect length is wonderful. I also bought some of their cotton lycra jazz pants on the Swap Meet board from Adi and they are my favorite practice and teaching wear.

I concur that calling them on the phone is much better than email. Lora is such a doll, and will take such good care of you

HUGE L. Rose Fan!

I'm 5'9", but my legs are fairly short and heavy; I have a very long torso. I sent an email with my order for a pair of jazz pants with all my measurements; I got a call the next day asking why I had ordered a larger size than my measurements indicated? I explained the whole long body, things never fit right thing and Laura (I think!) asked, "why don't I just add an inch in the rise?". Which she did and they fit perfectly! And she put it on file, so when I ordered a pair of modified bells-she knew about it!

I can't wait until I lose more weight; one of my looked forward to purchases is a beledi dress-with a deluxe trumpet skirt with chiffon gores.

I have an L-Rose set and love it - I plan to order another one. I've had it for about three years now and it still is like new. Just wash and wear!

All but one of my troupe costumes (from 3 different troupes) have used L Rose costume pieces in some way. Everything I have ever ordered has fit me well and made with the exact measurements I requested. I totally recommend L Rose!

Just want to add my thumbs up for LRose. Easy to order from, good quality, and the one time I had a teensy little problem it was resolved quickly, easily and very fairly.

They are great folks with a great business, and I love supporting their work.

Another big vote here for L. Rose.

They are so sweet and helpful. They worked out an impressive load of stuff about my fittings just from a few emails across the Atlantic. I like their stuff so much I wear it for dressy nights out as well as dancing.

I've recently ordered a half-top from them which has not yet come in. I've heard they run small in the tops, so I'm glad I ordered a large, even though I'm generally a medium in stretchy tops.

I am getting a Luxury Velvet U-Top 3/4 sleeves with chiffon circular drape sleeves in turquoise to wear with a Bella Bedlah that I call my Tropical Paradise costume. Also, a Banded half top with circular drape sleeves in black velvet.

Lrose is a great place. I have a friend who knows the owners and swears by them and their work. I have discovered that their pre-made top sizes run small...at least for me they do. Their custom made items would be made just right. They do a great job getting all your measurements correct.

Wow, I keep watching this thread thinking that surely, in all the years they've been in operation, there must be SOMEONE who's had a bad L. Rose experience. They're human, they must have made a mistake at some point, right?

But apparently not!

Well, there is that thread about my LRose dress being too long, in which several others chimed in that they've had similar issues with the beledi dresses.

I've found them to be very responsive when there's a problem. Not sure how to approach them about my dress, as I need to wear it in a few days so no way I can send it back. But my fix is temporary and I'm considering asking them to fix the length for me when my perf is over. I've never done that before, but they did replace a troupe costume I had that started falling apart after only a couple of wearings.
