Ideas for a fluttery sort of skirt?

I have some wonderful fabric I've wanted to make a skirt out of for years.

It's lace, overdyed in vivid shades of hot pink, orange and purple (like a sunset). Very dynamic, semi-sheer, and has the added advantage of not raveling when it's cut.

I keep picturing something like a straight mini to mid-thigh (probably double-layer or lined) with the rest of the skirt made in car wash strips, or layers of scarf-like panels -- something really dynamic that would give a lot of movement.

(I've also pictured it like a one-shoulder beledi dress, worn with a bra under & belt over, skirt the same way)

Does anyone have examples, pictures, patterns, or even thoughts that might help me get un-stuck and moving forward with this????

What about a handkerchief skirt? They have loads of movement, and the pattern is really simple.

the butterfly skirt from audrena.com (pharonics design) is a simple sarong, with petals attached, a very lovely look and very flattering, gives you the security of a straight skirt with the movement of a circle skirt

I think B. D. Patterns # 3001 would be good for what you're talking about. If you google it, you should be able to find an online vendor. It's tightly fitted to just above the knee, then the rest of the skirt is gathered and sewn onto the "mini". You use fishing line in the the hem which makes it really fluffy. I made only one of them and it wasn't too hard.

what about something similar to the christina skirt, but use a bunch of 1/2 circles. I personally don't like all the funky pieces, but i like to make it full and then add extra pieces on top like that. that way you get the movement of the separate pieces and the flowwyness of the circle skirt ....I think all handkerchief skirts look kinda weird...but it is personal preference
