Thread: Costume Fitting question

ok - I notice that most costumes for sale consist of that whole slinky skirt with sequins on it this. Sorry - not doing a good job.

Where skirt is the bottom of the costume. Ok - for years I have been a dress or bra/belt girl but I really like this style.

The question is - do you find that you kind of spill out of these?

Not to get too detailed but I have a little "extra baggage" along my hips and tummy. I am worried that a costume like this would bulge me out out and look real bad. The muffin top effect..

My belts are stiff material and they kind of "contain" me well.

I know - I have not been anywhere where I can try on one of these styles. Can't wait until this summer when I will be traveling and will get a chance to try one on :-)

personally... I find that both are okay. I don't have a whole lot of extra, but I have a layer for sure. I think if the lycra/stretchy skirt is a good fit it will look wonderful. sometimes I think they are better because they form to your body....instead of squeezing all the extra out.

I have "extra" and skirts like that just make me ooze all over the place. It is not attractive on me It also just clings to all those areas that I would like to hide from everyone including myself!..l;,

I have 'extra' and I tend to look better in a bra & belt set, generally. But I *have* made lycra skirts work. I have to pin or tack them to sturdy dance trunks that ride low on the hip.

Otherwise, I find the elastic has to be so tight on top to support a heavy skirt that muffintop is inevitable.

The dance trunks give support to the weight of the skirt, but a few inches below the top of the skirt. So any 'muffining' over the trunks hides under the skirt, and the top of the skirt doesn't have to fit so tight.

I've found it really depends on the garment -- who knew there were so many kinds of lycra? I've had good luck w/ Johara, Hanan, Sahar, and Eman.

Have fun trying them out. It's the only way you'll know what works for your body. Do you have any dancer friends who would let you try on such a costume?

Personally, I think I look better in a bra and belt set.

The "built in" decor on the lycra skirts just don't work for me.

Plus, I like to mix and match and you can't with the above mentioned skirt.
