Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
Thank you so much -- my students were asking how to do this just last week, so I posted the link on our Yahoo group. *off to check out Jewel's link too*

Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
Hey is it okay if I cover/coin a bikini top instead of a bra? I just feel like my boobs are going fall out when I shimmy in a bra. And I know I can wear my bathing suit top and to back bends and shoulders shimmys and whatnot and I'm never scared I'm gonna lose a top.

Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
I really wouldn't suggest it. I sounds weird but the support really is needed and if the bra fits right you shouldn't fall out of it and it will stop any shoulder shimmies from become a tad indecent. If you use a regular bra, I always remove the elastic straps and chest band and make my own out of a non elastic material so that there is no movement and hence, no peek-a-boo.

Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
If you're worried about your boobs coming out the top of your bra, you can add a strip of wide non-roll elastic to the top edge to give you a bit more coverage. Just pin it while you're trying the bra on (hard job not sticking your boobs with pins!), tack in place and then cover up with material/coins. There's a photo of how I've done this in my article (see my post above).

Jewel, thanks so much for posting this. I hadn't seen this technique anywhere else before. I have some holographic snake print lycra that's begging to be turned into a bra. I'm thinking of trying your technique for that project.
(Now, if only I could get 48 hours long days, that would be great! *g* )

Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
Thanks Gothique! And thanks Misha for the visual. I don't really sew but for hand quiting and it looks as if I could do this all by hand. One question:
What do you put at the bottom of the bra where the cups meet? Did I miss that step? Also, I am a B but would like to cover a bra that is a C and just sew in some padding to "round out" my figure. Is that advisable?

Re: Covering a Bra: A Photo Tutorial
I printed out Misha's slides one by one and made a "book" of it with a stapler so I could read and re-read as I covered my first bra. It was super-helpful to be able to refer to it.
