Thread: Eyebrows that stay put!

I'm a member of the "No Eyebrows" club and though they are tattooed the ink has oxidized and now they're not the color I'd like (gray, ick) so I cover them with brow powder for now but I digress...as i was putting my makeup on yesterday I was racking my brain for some trick to keep my eyebrows from sweating off by the end of my shift like they had on Wednesday (I generally use pencil with brow powder over them). In a moment of inspiration I spritzed some nonaerosol hair spray into the cap of my brow powder container, dipped my angled brush lightly into it, and swiped it into my brow powder a few times. Lo and behold the result was a 'wet' version of my brow powder that went on pretty smoothly and could be lightly feathered with a cleaned mascara wand. I tell you my brows didn't budge until I washed them off before bed! They also appeared to stay more matte than the rest of my face. Another bonus was that the few hairs I do have stayed well groomed too! My next test is bellydance class...

I think you might like the hairspray method...I've tried gel and it doesn't dry fast enough. Those little eyebrow hairs go wild again before it does. I did it again this morning and twelve hours later they're still looking as fresh as they did earlier and they're not shiny like they can get with pencil. I use the cheapo hairspray BTW, so don't waste your good stuff doing this.

I have blonde eyebrows and eylashes that I dye brown, have you tried this ? Works a treat for me.

If I had hair to dye I would have done it (sheepish grin)...I do have 'half eyebrows', thank goodness. The hardest part to get right is the inner portions though the tails of the brows are no picnic. I just woke up and most of the eyebrows I put on yesterday morning are still there!

Doozer, have you thought about having your eyebrow tattoos touched up? I have a few friends who have their eyebrows tattoed on, and the ink does fade after a while.

They usually have touch ups done every year or two to avoid that gray fade. I'm not sure, but I believe that it's a bit cheaper than the original procedure since it's just a quick fill in. (But it does scab over again, so they usually hide out for a day or two.)

I'm also lucky enough to have hairs -- albeit invisible blonde ones -- that I can dye. I'm afraid to do my lashes though, is it dangerous? .w.:

I want to find a better cosmetic tattooist than the one that did my original eyebrows and touchup a year or so later. She got them crooked! And one is slightly higher than the other! I'm in Southern Oregon...does anyone know of any good permanent cosmetic people here? By the way, I'm letting what few hairs I do have under the tattooed brow line grow in (I usually pluck them to give a cleaner line) and I'm surprised how quickly the little boogers are growing in...yay! That's where the hair spray comes in....it plasters those little suckers down nicely once they're long enough.

Benefit Cosmetics makes a product called "She-Lac" (she laq : Benefit Cosmetics ) which you can use over makeup to make sure it stays in place.
