    Quickie Audrena Question

OK. How long does it usually take to get a custom order from Audrena's?

I'm thinking of giving her a try for the black and electric blue Pharonics "Aida" I've got in mind, as her prices are good and everybody seems quite happy with her.

    Paging Tanya......g.:

I believe it took three months to get mine, but that was several years ago. I think the amount of time it takes also varies depending on the time of year you order and how close the shop is to sending out a shipment to the US?

I've been coveting an Aida in those colors too.... :)

I personally have all my costumes customed made so I've never dealt with her. However, I do have experience of her through other dancers. Generally, she has been very dependable. However recently, I understand she has been ill and apparently her illness has affected her business. I personally, know several local dancers who experienced delays or frankly got a costume that was outright the wrong costume or the wrong size. Just last week I got a warning from a friend never to order an Audrena costume. She went through a year ordeal. Other dancers I know waited months and months on a custom order only to have it screwed up.

So, while Audrena has typically had a sterling reputation, I think right now she may be going through some problems that are affecting her business. I'm sorry for her and I hope she can overcome this. But if timing and urgency is an issue with you, I'd suggest trying another vendor.

    Re: Quickie Audrena Question

I just ordered an Aida costume in nude/seafoam from her about a week ago. At the time I ordered it, she told me it would take 4 weeks. It would be nice if it does come in that timeframe, but I honestly think it will take longer. It sounded to me like she was expecting some shipments from Pharonics coming soon and I got the impression that 4 weeks was a quicker turnaround time than normal. Now might be a good time to try if you want a quicker turnaround time.

Yeah the time depends on what is going on over there and if there is a shipment already heading this way. Most of my custom orders from her come in between one and three months. I've never had to wait longer than that but then I also never order around festival seasons.

She has been dealing with health issues lately. She was recently hospitalized for a week or two but she was doing business from the hospital bed in Audrena fashion. ..l;, Her employees were on their own so things may have been confusing.

I have never had any problems with her but I read on Bhuz that some have. I agree with the above though, if you need it in a hurry then don't try it. If you have time then it might be worth it.

    Re: Quickie Audrena Question

A lot of time the problems with custom orders aren't an issue with the vendor, but with the designer.
There is a definite cultural difference with perspective to time, and there is also a cultural difference in how to answer questions. So a designer will say they can fulfill something, but they actually can't. OR they say they'll ship it "tomorrow"....but 2 months later still haven't shipped it. It's a perspective of not wanting to disappoint immediately. The vendors are stuck in the middle in many circumstances.
The designers also have different reputations for accuracy in sizing and special orders. I've always has really good luck with Pharoanics, though.

It took about 6 months (October - March) for my custom order, but when it did arrive, it was more perfect than perfect.
