have you been diagnosed with those conditions?
I only ask because for a while I thought I had them but it turned out to tendonitis, which whilst painful can be managed.

Ouch. My dad had heel spurs. He had orthotics for a while, but also did stretching. He no longer needs the orthotics, but continues to stretch or the pain comes back. There are links to stretches here:

do you sit at a desk? I have a 75% desk job...and I take my shoes off and massage my feet with tennis balls and it helps a lot.
    just a thought

Love your name, BTW! Yes, unfortunately, over the past 12 years, I've been to several podiatrists, and had x-rays to confirm a spur has formed in my right heel.

I've also been fitted with custom orthotics, since my feet are almost totally arch-less. The orthotics have kept the pain at bay for normal ambulatory activity, but every time I try to turn it up a notch (racewalking, jogging, and now dancing), the pain comes back.

Hope your tendonitis isn't causing you too much trouble.

why thank you, tbh it comes and goes abit like you mentioned, whenever the activity level jumps up a gear so do the problems.

If you're looking for a dance shoe to wear with orthotics I think your best bet would be some sort of jazz/street dance shoe, there are lots out there that are like regular trainers but lighter and have a split sole. And if you're the only one in class with them while the rest are barefoot or in ballet type shoes, take no notice. You're doing what's good for you happy dancing

Have you done physical therapy for the plantar fasciitis? I found that helped me a lot. I have to keep doing the exercises I learned in PT otherwise my foot backslides and flares up again. Keeping your calves well stretched is vital as well. And ice is your best friend after dancing.
