Thread: good place to get synthetic LAYERED hair extensions clip in

you guys know those mini clip in extensions? the ones that are a few inches wide and clip in with the comb or something? Am looking for those, in synthetic, from a reputable vendor..in dark brown and red colors

I use Toni Brattin. I really like them. I buy red one's. I prefer the clothes pin clip ones.

Red hair is hard to match, as you probably know. I bought my set in a light golden brown and dyed them to match my hair with clairol hair dye. My set came with two little sections for color testing.

hey you guys can you henna the real hair? i must admit i'm a bit creeped out by wearing real hair but i'll get over it..

my hair is sooo thick and wavy and it is layered so i need to get layered extensions not straight ones, something that blends in

i suppose its feasible to get extensions, henna them, then wear them to the stylist and have them shape the extensions while they are in with my real hair so it all blends?

Hi Sedonia, I didn't know Sally's has the human hair clip-ins! Did you have to sew clips on or anything? That's a really good price!

Yes,that´s what I do (except henna´ing)

The best thing you could do is order a color ring first:
(returnable and then they refund you the charge)
and check that you get the right red tone!

Extensions just look horrible when they don´t match(and are a waste of $)

No, they have clips that bend into place. Seriously, it takes me about 5 minutes to put the extensions into my hair. I never got the hang of using my 3/4 fall. I hated putting it on, hated wearing it. It always felt uncomfortable and inhibited my head movement. The extensions feel like nothing! And very very secure.

Jes, I wouldn't use henna. Unless you henna your hair, you love what henna does, and you know you are always going to henna your hair.

Once you henna the hair extensions, you can't use other hair colors.

A hair color from the drug store (clairol, l'oreal, etc) would be alot more predictable.

I actually used a semipermanent one on mine (clairol natural instincts), because reds fade so bad anyway, there is little benefit from using permanent colors, and the semipermanent do so much less damage. I did use the little test pieces to make sure the color would match my hair.

Oh, make sure the hair extensions say "remi" on them. This means that the hairs are all kept oriented properly (with the microscopic "scales" on the hair shaft oriented downwards). Cheaper, non-remi ones may have upside down hairs mixed in and they will get damaged by combing and brushing and end up looking bad.

I used henna one time on my hair. It was horrible for me. It turned my hair Orange. It felt like forever for it to grow out.

you guys rule. i wish you lived with me! thats a great idea..so the extensions can be dyed (with clairol or something) and re-dyed? how fun can that be! (loves dyes)

I think henna and its success depends on your base hair color, mine is dark brown with red highlights (damn irish) I can leave that stuff on for two hours and get a nice dark auburn-ish red but I've been using it for over 12 years..as Sedonia says once you wear it you cant use other dyes on it but I've always been happy enough with the results to not use anything else

i have to re-do it every few months, sooner if i am in the water a lot

hmm, I have human hair extension, clip in, 16" length, but the company I bought them from also does synthetic too.

they are from Herstyler , I got the Elite Extensions Elite Extensions by HerStyler

I know the human hair has a 2-year warranty.

Get real hair, you will be able to tint it or curl it, (synthetic will melt with a curling iron/straightener/rollers or hot blowdryer), but please do not use henna on your hair or extensions; always use proper hair colour either permanent or semi-permanent. Vegetable, (henna), and mineral dyes, (Grecian Formula/Just for Men), just coat the hair; the colours are unpredictable and change when you apply more, and you cannot use other colour once these are on your hair, even strong bleach will not take these off.

The extensions will come in one length though, so for the layers take them to your stylist when you go for your next cut. Place your extensions where you want them on your head and then your stylist can cut them to the proper lengths so that they will blend in with your cut.

P.S. You don't need to be creeped out about human hair; by the time the hair has become an extension it has been washed many times, bleached and/or coloured. And human hair is more environmentally friendly than synthetic; it's grown, not manufactured.

You will need to backcomb your hair well and then clip the extensions into the backcombing and then smooth out the top so you can't see the backcombing and clips. If you don't backcomb, the extensions might slip down the shaft and onto the floor after dancing for awhile.

Also for thickening fine hair, you need protein. I use Wayne Grund's "Tiger" protein reconstructor. You can purchase it from a salon or probably online somewhere, but I honestly swear by this stuff. It certainly helped rebuild my damaged fine hair when I started using it and now if I run out, I won't blowdry or style my hair with any heat.

My hair is down to the middle of my back but baby fine. I wear clip in pony tails and half wigs for performances. Usually a tad bit longer than my natural hair. People love to come play with my hair when I have them in!

Tiger will help make your hair stronger and healthier, and over time will help build the volume of the shaft. I have fine hair and it gets ratty really quickly even without heat styling as I live at a higher altitude in an arid climate. After towel drying my hair I spray on the Tiger, put my hair in a shower cap and put a toque on to keep in the heat, (if you have a stationary hair dryer at home you could sit under it instead). I leave the Tiger on while I do my skin care and make up, then I blow dry my hair; Tiger is activated with heat which is another reason that I love it.

It is important to use good shampoo and conditioner that matches your hair also, (moisturizing/chemically treated/volumizing, etc). Some cheap shampoos leave a waxy buildup on the hair shaft, which gives the impression of smooth hair, but makes the hair resistant to styling and eventually the hair will look dull and lifeless.

Sorry for going on and on, I used to be in the beauty industry and am probably too vain about my own hair. Hair is always the first thing I notice on a person and bad hair makes me cringe. Especially when I see a beautiful and talented dancer on stage with damaged, bad or un-styled hair; it just takes away from the dancing and beautiful costume for me.

I have more about experience on hair extensions that I have seen some hair extensions are not going longer period of using. they are very dirty after 2 months. But If you have looking for good hair extensions then select a good reputed store as All About Hair Extensions
