TUTORIAL: Easy Peasant Shirt for Tribally Goodness

I've got a performance coming up at a Pirate Festival and decided that I needed one of those nifty peasanty tops to wear under my uber kuchi coin bra. Time to buy it in a store? Of course not! But it was curiously easy to make.

The fun thing is that the top seam is adjustable, so you can wear it over your assests or loosen it and wear it with a costume bra. Also, the sleeves are adjustable so you can wear them long or shirt, depending upon heat/troupe needs/bracelet explosion, etc.

I'm planning on wearing this for a pirate gig, but it will also be reused for ren faire performances. Hope this can help someone else out, too!

Check out the tutorial here (it's incredible how quickly you can make this from a pre existing shirt - which, of course, means there's very little seam-finishing to do!)

Please let me know whatcha think ;)

Very cool! I used to do this type of sewing back in college. We had some really good thrift shops in the area and it was fun to "re-imagine" purposes for clothes I found on the cheap. I made a couple skirts with 2 slits and a small panel in the front by cutting up a long slip and a really hideous polyester dress. I also made a dagger skirt out of an old black corduroy dress--outlining each "dagger" with silver trim. These items weren't stage worthy but they were great for SCA events and Ren Faires. :o)

Hi. I respectfully request that you change your tutorial to remove the term "uber kuchi bra". Uber Kuchi is our business name and we have applied for trademark status. We do not sell coin bras. Thank you very much.

The following is my opinion only. You are free to do business how you prefer, but I wanted to respond to this.

Are you actually calling back up a 4 year old thread to complain that someone is using a term that is not original? Uber is a standard adjective and Kuchi in this case refers to a type of jewelry (or a culture). It's quite obvious that this posting had nothing to do with your store. You can apply for a trademark for 'fabulous necklaces' or 'awesome french' but I would suggest consulting an attorney before starting this kind of discussion. I am not the person who created the tutorial, but I can tell you that I have heard the word uber with kuchi thousands of times in reference to things other than your store. This kind of overzealous protection of your potential trademark when no offense, intent, or reference was made to mislead anyone makes me a lot less likely to patronize or recommend your store.

Wow. According to your website, you "became disillusioned with the Western capitalism model and its politics and decided to do something different." Seems like you're in fact pretty d#$% attached to the Western capitalism model.

I agree with the two posters above me and also have no intention of increasing traffic to your site by clicking on it. I also wonder if you are putting your link on Bhuz, a high traffic site, to increase your ranking in Google searches.

Agreed. The irony is pretty thick with this one.
