Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
The performance bug has bitten me again. I haven't danced publicly in over a year, and I have gained about 10lbs. This means that my lonely Bella (the only costume I didn't sell) doesn't fit right anymore. I need more costumes, but I want to drop some inches before I buy any more.
Also, my 15th wedding anniversary is in August and my hubs and I have a trip to Vegas planned--hello Bellagio. I'd really like to lose the 10lbs before the trip--preferably before my birthday in July.
I'm not saying it's a huge weight problem, just a little one--I'm at 137-138 and I'd like to be just under 130, where I used to be.
Anyone else in the same boat and want a weightloss buddy to stay motivated? I did Weight Watchers before and I loved it. I plan to follow the program, but I really don't want to spend the money on the weekly meetings.
PM me if you have a little to lose and want to get serious!

Eh...I'm pretty bad about journaling and logging...I know it's sad, but I just hate it!

We can still be buddies...I just know my weakness--and it's logging my food intake...

I'm bad about logging too...so what did you have in mind? I'd like to drop @10lbs as well (or one more dress size, whichever comes first)

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
I gotta say, I absolute hate writing everything I eat down, I really do. I too only need to lose 10 to 15 pounds. In fact from reading one of Mish's other posts, she and I are the same height and weight and want to lose about the same amount.
I bought myself a really nice elliptical trainer last November and have used it pretty regularly at 5 days a week for 30 minutes a workout. I also lift weights 3 days a week, teach belly dance one day and rehearse with my troupe another. So, in other words, I get plenty of exercise. The scale wouldn't budge a pound for me all winter.
I finally resigned myself to the fact that the only way I'm going to lose the weight is to keep track and that means writing it down. I hate it, but it's what works for me. So, in that light, I signed up for the daily plate since I can do it for free there as opposed to paying weight watchers for the same priviledge.
Whatever method we use, good luck to all of us.

I just got brave and tried on the bella bra/belt--not too bad, actually. I just need to loosen the bra band a wee bit.
For me, my eating isn't terrible, but I've been avoiding regular exercise. Today, I walked 2 miles on the treadmill!
Yay me!

I need to lose AT LEAST 10 pounds so I would be interested. I have been trying to follow the WW plan and journaling. I just keep eating too much.

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
As I just ate 4 cookies during the course of today! I lost 45lbs too a few years ago and kept it off for 4 years. I know I can do it too. But man, I was hungry. And really sick of all that freakin excercise just to maintain. And that made me sad. My motto these days: "Progress, not perfection."

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!! Repeat 20 times! I have gained back 20 of the 40 I lost. Random eating, no plan, no accountability. Not to mention the byatches in my office bringing in chocolate and leaving it around and telling me I just need more self control...yeah and so does a Meth freak!

We can join it together!,f::
I lost, well, lets leave it at a bunch (don't want to scare anyone who knows me) of weight about 7 years ago, but all of a sudden the over 40 fight has begun! No matter what used to work, it sure doesn't work for me anymore.
I'm out of ideas!

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
I think we all have to do what we know will move us forward. I am between 137 and 138 right now--I plan on checking in with my true actual real no lie weight (once a week or so...). And checking in on my biggest stumbling block, which is regular exercise. I think just have people to be accountable to is helpful!

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
what will move me forward is someone putting a lock on the refrigerator ;) It's so hard to be disciplined with kids in the house (yes I am guilty of eating goldfish crackers at midnight) grrrr. What do all of you do to stay focused when trying not to binge?? That's my biggest downfall. SNACKING

I have had good luck with a light dinner and NO SNACKING other than fresh fruit after dinner.

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
I graze during the day and have cravings at night. I honestly do not know how anyone goes from dinner to breakfast with nothing in between. I've tried fluids, that only made me pee all night and there is nothing worse than your sleep being disrupted by a full bladder. Ive also tried eating nothing after dinner. I would just wake up in the middle of the night starving. I know I am not active enough though I dance often. I own a pilates machine, pilates dvd's, hip hop abs, balance ball, various other exercise dvd's including the new awesome one by Aubre, and the newly released wii fit (still unopened after two weeks). Just can't seem to get motivated!!!

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
Okay, so I am also on the bandwagon of loosing at least 10 pounds! I am about 145lbs, and would really like to be somewhere between 130 and 135. Which is not going to be very easy for me because, I already workout all the time, but anyways.... Just a few tips I think may be helpful
* try buying snacks for your kids that if you did find yourself eating them, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world: lots of different kinds of fruit, granola bars, nuts, yogurt
*drink alot of water!! everyone knows it, but not so many doing it!
*Eat alot of fiber, not only does it help you feel full, it also keeps things moving and therefor will aid in flushing the fat!
*If you are a person who needs a sweet a snack, try those wieght watchers oatmeal cookies, muffins, ect. Also Jello pudding pops are a good alternative.
* and last but not least, try and find someone to workout with! Its more fun, more motivating and you have someone to kick your lazy but into gear!
*also a good idea is to commercial exercise: You are watching your favorite show, while the commercials are on, do something! Do couch squats (sit on the end of the couch, then stand up, and repeat), do some push ups, sit ups, leg lifts, grab some hand weights, try to get through the whole commercial segment.
Well good luck to everyone!! Don't forget to post your progress!! Congrats to Mish on your two miles!!

Re: Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
I certianly need to join that group, I am currently at 196 in my weight and I would like to lose a decent number of pounds and inches this summer. I am trying to stop my bad eating habits and do good eating habits, I have made progress but there is still a lot of work to be done. I see a lot of people use daily plate...does anyone use sparkpeople.com? Thats the site I use.
I also read that some are struggling with a snacking problem, I know ur pain but thge awesome acmcgraw gave me my freedom from that! and that freedom was Green Tea! It helped me stop my lil outburst of eating at night and if I drink it in just sips it keeps me from having to run to bathroom a lot from all the liquid in take. I would deffiantly give it a try!Last edited by darkangel7631; 05-31-2008 at 09:01 AM.

My goal is to get some walking in every day...I know it's not going to win me any fitness medals, but it's a start. I also feel better, which I seem to forget when I'm sitting here bhuzzing like crazy.
