06/01/08 - Proud of myself - post op recovery
I thought I would share this because the issue came up recently.
I was in class yesterday doing travelling psoas lifts - those hiplifty things where it goes to the front like tucking the pelvis at one side. I realised while I was doing it that the muscle I use, the psoas and lower internal obliques, were those that were most compromised (read, attachments severed) during my appendectomy.
Six months ago I couldn't stand up straight and could only move about in a shuffle, holding my innards in place with my hand - now I'm dancing with very little problems (after a lot of work on it yesterday, my right side definately feels more tired than my left, but I managed in class no problem).
It's been a struggle at times but for anyone who has to deal with recovery from abdominal surgery, I would have to say that looking back it feels like it was all over very quickly.
