I think leopard can look good on small people, as the print itself is small, so the size of the spots doesn't overpower, but it's also quite a "loud" costume so it can help make you seem "bigger".

I don't see why not! True, there are "rules" against petite people wearing prints, but that applies more to big, busy prints in bolder color schemes. Smaller prints (like leopard) are classically regarded as safe. In fact, I'm 4'11 and both of my "tall and skinny" costumes happen to have leopard print!

I'd say keep everything in proportion: shy away from super fluffy or billowy fabrics and lines, and keep everything close to the body. Maybe try a nice high slit in the skirt to show some leg.

I can't wait to see pics of your creation!

Nothing can swallow up a dancer if she puts out ATTITUDE! Go for it!

As a fellow small person (mostly) I say judge each costume?costuming idea on its own merits. Sure there are 'rules' about what you should or shouldn't wear but I think these should be used as guidelines, rather than commandments!

The fabulous Kimahri is a great example of this. She's quite petite, but when she puts on an animal print costume, she *totally* owns it.

I don't think the size of the dancer matters. It's more about what works for the individual, their coloring, their style, their shape.

Abig thankyou ladies; I've always wanted a leopard print costume .I;m thinking of a high waisted fishtail skirt for this one as I;ve got a couple of tattoos and my belly is starting to get that dimplie look about it'so i like the high waisted skirts now i dont think anyone needs to see THIS belly anymore he'he' I;ve found this style on me to be rather flattering..So if i cover a bra and make the skirt like i said because of the bold print would i need to add much more to this costume? also being a high waisted skirt it would look rather odd i think with fringing hanging from the waist i should imagine any ideas on decorating or just let it be what do u think ladies?
