    Fell off the wagon

    Ok - so it was my birthday & I had a friend in town & I had a few days off of work & it has all conspired against me... 5 lbs snunk up behind me when I wasn't looking .w.: .w.:

    I have got to get back on the weight wagon ASAP! There is still cake in the fridge and the fat & carbs are beckoning. I'll be in Italy in a month & then hopefull onto to Cairo - where the carbs will really be calling out my name

    Help me - I've fallen & I cant get up

    Oh, geez Magz. I wish I could help, only I'm in the same boat. Except with cupcakes, and no traveling.

    Flush the cake down the toilet, go the grocery and stock up on protein and veggies, do some exercise - even if it is just a light workout to ease you back into things. Stop thinking about yesterday and just start over! Be glad it is 5 lbs and not 50. Most of it is probably water gain from the carb fest.

    Get rid of the rest of the cake (tell yourself that you've had enough and don't want any more, and give it away before it gets stale or throw it out), and jump back on the wagon! Slip-ups are to be expected. And as far as Italy and Cairo go, indulge in the phenominally fresh Italian fruit supply that you can't get any where else, and go for healthy rustic Italian cooking. They generally eat very healthily, lots of fish and tomatoes and veg; figure out the approximate size of a portion of pasta is (1 portion of pasta is 1 cup of cooked pasta, usually about the size of your fist) and make sure you don't eat more than that one portion in a meal. And in Cairo, there will be exotic things like fresh figs and other unusual fruits and veg to tempt your palate. No need for sticky desserts with options like that!

    And don't beat yourself up too much over setbacks - they happen!

    Take the cake to work or dump it in the trash and squirt dish detergent on it, lol!

    or hide the cake in the back of the freezer
    you might forget about it for a while
    and it might get freezer burn and you won't want to eat the rest anyway

    I had a 2 cupcake problem Thursday ,f::
    but I resisted the soda!!

    Find a neighbor to "donate" the cake to...it's what I did with a cheesecake that was tempting me...

    Re: Fell off the wagon

    The cake is gone - I did bring some to work & my hubby finished it off the rest as an act of kindness. Thank you all for your words of encouragement

    I have worked so hard to loose the 20 lbs & to put 5 back on so quickly is a ugly wake-up call. I'm mad at myself for being so careless ,m::

    I'm going to do a 3 mile walk before it gets too hot out & then onto a bunch of ab work and a good long shimmy drill - gotta burn the fat! Back to the straight & narrow for me. Fortunately I tend to loose weight when I travel - I have had to develop good habits since I do travel a lot for work and the food is so yummy overseas. I will not over eat cause I do want to buy a costume if I get to go to Egypt after Florence and nobody likes a muffin top over a nice new cossie...
