Thread: Where to start for a Meleya Leff dress?

Okay, I have the Leff down, now I want a dress. If that dress doesn't sell in my Swap forum, I'm going to create a Meleya dress out of it myself! But, where do I start? What elements are essential to this type of dress? Extra froo froo? What? Anyone have experience making there own? Advice?

I'm watching this thread with a similar interest because I too just started my love affair with melaya leff but need a costume. I always thought those dresses looked like bad prom dresses from the 1980s......start hitting up your local Goodwill?

Any short flirty dress will do. You don't have to have the off the shoulder ruffle deal.

The last time I did melaya I wore a sleeveless black dress with blue roses and glitter on it, which was empire line/bias cut with an asymmetric hem. It worked.

If you sew, check out patterns for salsa dresses and you can vary them to suit your needs.
