Post Office has half my costume!
I just have to post here as I know you ladies can comiserate with me.
Last month I was lucky enough to snag myself a GORGEOUS Teal great Loop from Jewell. After some shipping woes (the box she packed it in broke before the post office could ship it and they held the costume) the costume was packed in two seperate boxes due to the weight and shipped iff from Germany.
Happily I tracked the two tracking numbers as they traveled from overseas to NY where they were picked up by the US postal service. A few days later I get the little card that says I have a package at the post office which is registered and I needed to sign for it. I hop back in my truck immediately and head up to the post office right before it closes.
I get to the counter and tell the guy that there should be TWO packages; he goes in the back to get them. He comes back with one and said the other one wasn't here yet and it will prolly be here tomorrow.
Well. Its been a week since then. The tracking number still says its in NY. I can't get ahold of Jewell to start an inquiry on it as she is the one that needs to initiate it as the sender. Meanwhile I have this gorgeous teal great loop bra that fits PERFECTLY sitting on my dress form taunting me with no belt to be seen. Also, one of the skirts that goes with it and one of the wristlets is being held hostage as well.
I was SO excited about this costume that I've been waiting over a month for now (paid $80 for shipping to get it here within a week; not Jewell's fault but rather the post office's!) and I just had to vent.
..cr.:

OH OH OH, I feel your pain. It's hard enough waiting for a costume shipment but this is truly cruel. Here are a dozen roses, PROMPTLY delivered:

PS - Adding this. Now look at that! ONE of the dozen roses is NOT THERE/DYSFUNCTIONING and in looking at my post, I can't tell why (no, there is not really a space between the R and the O).

Go back and make them look for it! I went to the post office to get my costume last week in miami beach and they told me it wasn't there.
I told them I wasn't leaving till they found it and someone else went to look for it and found it.

Re: Post Office has half my costume!
how frustrating! well don't give up hope.
i recently sent some pants to a dancer and the package went missing. only to show up weeks later, back at my address with most of the shipping label torn off and stamped as undeliverable.
but i resent it and she got her stuff.
so it might yet turn up! strange things happen in the post

This is why I always, always insist on insurance. The post office will have a better eye on it (since they are liable) and if something does go wrong, I would get my money back, I could refund the buyer's money and everyone is happy (well sort of, no costume, but at least no financial loss).
I'm sure it will turn up soon, and I know it's very frustrating.

Ugh, I hate the USPS. I feel your pain. They lose my mail *all* the time (I was just charged $100 from my landlord for late rent because a. the check never reached them and b. the letter telling me I was late never reached me). Packages? Forget it. They get lost and I never see them, they show up 3 months after I order them, or- my favorite- they leave them on the sidewalk outside my apartment building, which is on a very busy street in a not-so-great neighborhood.
I second Mariana- always, always, always get insurance. Hope the rest of your costume arrives soon!

YAY! The box showed up! This morning there was a 'Second Notice' card in my mailbox; like I would have waited to get it if I got the first notice! Grr!
Anyways, here it is:
