Triangle panel skirt, part deux
From the previous thread:

I assume one does NOT spin in a skirt like this?

I would think not (unless you had the front and back panels "anchored" together at just below crotch level).

Re: Triangle panel skirt, part deux
In one of my previous troupes we wore skirts like this on occasion as well as some of the really high split circle skirts. Our solution was a modesty underskirt. Basically, it is a skirt in the same fabric as the high split skirt made in the Turkish loop style. the length of is was based on the length and width of the overskirt.
Something like this one (on the left)

Not sure if that helps in this situation, but it saved us from the worry of exposure without altering the look of the main skirt.
If the costume wasn't one where this would work, we either made a modesty mini-skirt or harem pants to wear with it if it was on the more bare side.

Because you are a skirt loving kind of guy. Actually, it never occurred to me that it might not be for you. If it's not for you, please pass on my test request.

Mahsati, I've seen that drawing and I thought it looked like an accident waiting to happen for me. I can just see putting my foot inside the loop on a traveling step. Does that happen in real life or am I just afraid of my inner klutz?

Re: Triangle panel skirt, part deux
I had one of those Turkish style skirts (one piece that looped down between your legs) years ago when I was a baby dance. I wore in once. Kept getting my foot caught in it (almost broke my neck). Never again for me. Then again, the husband IS fond of referring to me as "the graceful dancer" during my non-dance, least graceful (like getting up off of the floor when I've been sitting there a while) moments. (Total sarcasm intended.)..l;,

Re: Triangle panel skirt, part deux
*easy* to get caught in and fall down. I hated them for that reason - but it is based on whether or not you use a wide stance. I personally could never get used to the wider stance because I dance primarily Egyptian style. For the Turkish dancers, it seemed perfect - not one of them ever stepped on their skirt.
However - if you are using it as an underskirt, you make it shorter than you would wear normally and it won't get tangled in your feet. - though if you see it by itself it looks silly ;)

Cute...I always thought the under loopy skirt thing looked kind of dangerous...this coming from someone who gets hung up in harem pants, of all things!

Naw, I'm just yanking your leg - of course its for me. I have a triangular top that would go with a triangular skirt just perfectly. For the "right crowd", it would be killer.
That loopy thing looks, well, loopy. Ol' klutz me would end up in an untidy pile on the floor wearing something like that. Suicide skirt!
