more pain in humid environment?
I had a recent flare up of plantar fascitis again..it only takes one day in flip flops and it hurts again..which is puzzling because i used to live in flip flops when I lived in waikiki and never had problems
but anyways..ever since moving here to big island I can't really put my finger on it because you know we have a baby, and we don't always get enough sleep..but it seems like around the time we moved here I started developing more general aches and pains. Not anything related to post partum or boob surg (unless the plantar problem can be traced to post partum).
in general I'm just a lot more achey than i was, have less energy and i want to sleep. During the day i fight to stay awake. Overall just more aches ..my husband has also noticed an increase in general achiness or body ailments too. But he's not had a baby or boobs..
not sure if we are imagining this or not. We live right across the street from the ocean..so close that our appliances rust. Our neighbors have constant sea mist on their windows.
I was reading some online articles tonight about pain and barometric pressure, and humidity versus dry environments. Seems many people suffer from more ailments in cold and hot humid environments. Just thought it was interesting...wondered about your personal experiences and if you feel different if you are in a different 'zone' (not talking about just normal summer humidity and heat which can zap everyone but overall..)
When i was a nurse working in Phoenix we used to see a lot of elderly flock to the desert during winter (we called them snowbirds) ..some docs swore that the dry heat was better for their arthritis and allergies)
???thoughts

Re: more pain in humid environment?
Have you asked your doctor to check whether you have post-partum depression? The symptoms you have *could* be caused by that. Though I doubt it would explain your husband's symptoms!
I believe that some kinds of pain are affected by barometric pressure, but I don't know about humidity.

Re: more pain in humid environment?
arthritis definitely flares up with changes in the barometric pressure. I can speak for that personally. I can almost always tell if a front is coming through because my joints start to ache.

Re: more pain in humid environment?
My plantar fasciitis is much worse in the winter--as any dancer who's stood around barefoot in a drafty place waiting to dance can tell you, cold is no good for your feet. The only thing I've really noticed relative to humidity is that as one swells up in humid weather, shoes can become too tight and aggravate the PF.
One of the things about PF, as I understand it, is that sometimes it just comes with age, especially if you made a habit out of high heels, flip flops or say dancing barefoot, which requires a lot of foot strength. After a certain amount of abuse, your fascia have pretty much had it and will always require special care to avoid flare-ups. So it makes sense that while flip flops never used to cause you pain, they can frequently cause it now. If you do a lot of walking in sand, that will do it too.
If you haven't seen a physical therapist for the PF, you might want to, to get specific suggestions for your particular manifestation of it. Calf stretches will always help, as will picking up towels with your toes while seated, keeping your heels on the ground. You have my sympathy...

Re: more pain in humid environment?
I definitely notice a difference. When I lived in the Northwest, I was achy all the time. This subsided a bit on the east coast, but I could always tell when it was going to rain b/c my knee would start to ache. Now I'm back west and have been noticing that I'm a bit more achy again. For me, it's definitely related to barometric pressure. Sucks!!

Re: more pain in humid environment?
My arthritis is definitely effected by humidity and changes in pressure. When it gets really humid here my feet and hands ache, when the weather dramatically flip flops day to day, ouch and when there is a change a commin, I feel it.
I have more issues in cold not due to humidity or pressure changes but just because I tend to tense my muscles to stay warm and that in turn puts more pressure on my joints so they ache a little more. I hope you can figure it out soon, that is the kind of pain that you can't "just ignore".
