New Dahlal Costumes with feathers! Anybody tried one?
I was just checking out the new DahlalUSA line and noticed that along with being xtra pricey most of the costumes have lots of feathers. I am curious - has anyone bought one or tried one out? I am concerned about the feathers because everyone knows what happens when feathers come in contact with sweat! And then they are never the same again!

What about what happens when feathers come in contact with cats? Doesn't seem like they'd wear well.

No feathers for me. Not only due to the above reasons (sweat, lack of durability, too much fun for my feline friends), I do not like how feathers feel on my sweaty skin. I tried-on a few and did not find the feathers or the price appealing. For those prices I want more than a few fluffs of feathers as the novelty. A few well-placed, decorated silk flowers would be much more appealing.

They're certainly gorgeous to look at. Didn't Tim formerly design for stage in Vegas? They definitely have that bellydancer-meets-showgirl look!
Is there such a thing as fake feathers?

Been dancing in feathers for few years now. No problem with mine.
Remove costume immediately after use and air out.

I'm sorry, I just don't like feathers on belly dance costumes.
Especially the ones that look like chicken feathers (a la the feathered Emans)
Tim's costumes have nicer feathers, but I still don't like 'em.

Everybody has his/her preferences.
I'm "allergic" to beaded fringe.

I had a feathered eman (confetti chic, was it?). I didn't have any trouble with sweat. the feathers aren't necessarily laying next to your skin.
what I did have trouble with, is the fact that the distance from my collarbone to my cleavage is rather short. and I guess I have a tendency to tilt my head to the left and sigh heavily when I stop and pose. which made the fluffy feathers on the left cup wave at me in a very amusing fashion.
(and har, as I was looking to see if there was an emoticon that waved, I noticed that on the barf one, some of the spew comes out its nose. lol!)

I really don't like the feathered costumes. I just received my Dahlal newsletter yesterday and was bummed by all the feathers. I'm just not a feather girl, I guess.

This seems to happen if the "stem" (not sure of my ornithoptic vocabulary) is not affixed properly to the fabric. It could definitely cause them to bend and break.
All feather costumes I own have the stems sewn down pretty sturdily so that they have no chance of bending.
How many times have I said "bend" and "stem" in this one response?!

a lot of the costumes in the new dahlal catalog don't have enough bling, imho.

I'm a big "mixed media" fan (jutting silk flowers, feathers, etc.)
Bra is in w/ the rest of them, just make sure the feathers are laying in the right direction; they "refluff" when out in the open.
The skirt is hanging in a closet underneath a dry cleaning bag with another feathered friend.
I roll when traveling, again making sure feathers are going in the correct direction.
