Take care of your self and invest in a feisty pink helmet.

In California, kids have to wear helmets when riding bicycles and scooters, too.

.w.: Oh Kimahri!! I totally feel for and with you! Been there, done that, and I
can't lecture you because we only use helmets on long trips. (I can hear the grumblings now)
It's a total state of mind when it comes to that---but you get that already I can tell. But you have the little ones to think of, so I will say tsk, tsk!
Remember there are 2 types of riders: those that have gone down and those that have yet to! So you may have paid your dues now.The question is now do you think you will get back on?

Take care and rest, the soreness goes away--but you'll remember for a while unfortunately.

Arnica gel on the bruising will help a lot. Homeopathic arnica tablets. Go to the health food store and get some. Eat fresh pineapple (a plastic surgeon I knew said it helped healing). And wear a helmet. Please.

Glad you are okay. I know wear a helmet next time. You'll be fine to shimmy again.
In CT it is perfectly legal to ride a motorcycle without a helmut. But a regular mountain bike or 10 speed well then you have to wear a helmet. How screwed up is that?

    Maia,
I wish i knew about the arnica tablets and pineapple for bruising, when i got hit by a car (I am all healed and dancing again) in April

YOWZA! You must certainly be sore everywhere! I fell off a bike taking a motorcycle safety course years ago (everybody rides pretty slow at those things), ripped up my fave jeans back then and really scraped up my knee - (for going slow, that was really smarts!) so I can't even imagine how you're feeling! Feel better soon!

I al *so* glad that you weren't hurt more than you were (either of you). Let me just second (or is it third?) the "live by example for your kids". I did and mine learned most of the important, keep yourself intact habits (even if we still have problems with my mom and her seatbelt). Actually, your accident was probably a lesson for them too. Hope they haven't freaked out too bad about it. (I know how mine get at times with me.) ..g.: May both of your soreness from this be short lived.

    Re: Ow....ow.....ow......

I am coming late to this thread because I've been out of town for a week, away from my email.

OMG, Kim, I am so glad you and hubby are okay!!!!!!! I won't nag you about the helmet because it seems like everyone else already did, and it looks like you've changed your mind about it for the future. But really, I am just thanking every deity and pagan god/goddess in existance that you guys are all right.

I grew up in NY State, which has had a mandatory helmet law since the 1970's. Until I moved to Wisconsin, I'd never even *seen* anyone ride a motorcycle without a helmet before, and even 7+ years later it still freaks me out. But in the home of Harley, I predict this will be the last state to ever pass a helmet law.

I swear by arnica for bruising, muscle stiffness & soreness...those of you with little kids ought to know that the tablets make good "owie" medicine and really do take the pain away after a bump. Glad that you are back dancing -- hit by a car -- aieeee.w.:!
