I moved to Indiana. I need costuming help, or just general help...
Hello luvies! I miss my fellow bhuzzers.
So....
I really suck at costuming myself.
AND
I lost more weight, so none of the ones I have fit all that well. (I'm about to sell them off if I get a moment)
I need a new costume on the cheap. Preferably a dress, something conservative, since I'm needed to perform at local events where my students and parents of my day job as a teacher might be present (ack!)
I recently moved to Indiana, and am currently without dance space and after completely freaking out about it, I talked myself out of retiring permanently.
So anyway,
I don't know, what do you guys think about this one?

the red crochet one on page 5 under dresses
or this blue one
Gorgeous pro Belly dance Costume / evening gown Belly Dance Costumes Hip Scarves and belly Dancing accessories by Isis Exchange
or any other dresses out there that are not so freaken' fussy and overwhelming on someone who is under 5 feet tall. Ive also learned the hard way that I dont look good in pastels, even tho I love them.
I don't know. I also just recently cut ALL my hair off and all my fake hair only works if you can put it in a ponytail. Sigh...I dont mind performing in haflas with my hair au natural, but Im not taking gigs right now as a result.
In short, it's a hot mess over here. A hot tranny mess.

Sumaya, that blue dress is beautiful and I think the style would be great for a shorter person. It's got enough going on to be interesting and glamorous without being overdone or overwhelming. Love the color. Go for it!
Hope you're well, happy you haven't retired. I only know you from Bhuz but had been wondering what happened to you! Best of luck managing all the changes.

A hot tranny mess ..l;,
I like the blue one. It's got a bit of sparkle but won't overwhelm your small frame. I also like the side cutout to show some torso and emphasize your waistline.

Actually, I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere. Not near Chicago and not near the belly dance scene in eastern Indiana where Leila and Ruby are. But Im still about 25 minutes from the Park Forest studio where I teach, so thats not too bad.
It's really nice out here, very peaceful, cool organic farmers markets and such. I just dont handle change all that well. I'm gonna have to be pretty choosy about events I go to now tho with the gas factor and the fact that the drive home puts me to sleep late at night.
Sigh.

Lauren and Nilaja:
Sniffle...yes! No, we moved to indiana cuz our house was small and crappy and we found a beautiful one one the cheap...in Indiana. It's actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be, mostly cuz there is a starbucks and target down the street. I mean, it cant be the boonies if there is a starbucks and a target so close right?
I cut my hair off cuz I was feeling saucy. :)

The blue dress is very nice. Also you might want to check out the saidi jewel dresses on page 2 on Dahlal's site. I bought 1 and I love it. Then a troupe saw mine and bought it for their troupe. It looks good on everyone Short, fat, tall and thin. I had a belt made to go with it and the troupe wore fancy hip scarves.

Dude, you were thinking of retiring???????? Say it ain't so! I'm glad you changed your mind, habibi!
I have seen Sumaya's short sassy hair in person and it it super cute and sexy. I don't think anyone hiring you for a gig would be disappointed at all!
