Re: what do you wear when you are not dancing?

Hm, depends on what I do.

In the summer, I actually really like overalls (from Goodwill and Salvation Army) and old t-shirts. Or, when I want to look a bit more civilized, wide, flowy skirts and Indian gauzy kurta shirts. At home, Indian shirts and pantaloons.

When going out, I often wear things from the Culture Shop (not available online, a local store that sells mostly their own line of clothes): unique stuff made from recycled sari silks.

I am afraid - no designer wear here. I'd rather splurge on bellydance toys ;-) Also, no mall wear.

For a night out, nothing beats a pair of well-cut jeans, spiffy top, and heels. Otherwise, for relax wear, I'm all over jeans and a lightweight knit top.

And work clothes.... slacks and a nice top. Occasionally a dress or skirt.

Not to sound too cheap, I love shopping at Target for some of my trendy pieces.

My husband works at a sporting goods store and gets a discount, so I usually have a nice supply of North Face, Columbia, Nike, etc. sportswear.

I like knits. Long skirts. Tight clingy pants. Apparently, I like green, because a student in my biology class took the time to report on his/her evaluation that I wore green 37 times last semester.

Multiple black things. Dresses over pants, a lot. Heels when I can be bothered.

I'm a bit of a dapper doll. For work I'm a teacher in a very affluent area so I wear modern professional clothes and casual stuff from JCREW, Banana Republic, BCBG...I shop a lot a TJ MAXX too for designer & quasi designer pieces. Outside of work, I'm not so preppy and I like anthropologie, Urban Outfitters kind of stuff.

late 60s/early 70s vintage dresses, hot pants, tube tops, sweeeeet deals on Betsey Johnson/Armani/Dolce & Gabbana (mostly resale shops like Buffalo Exchange--yo, hit it next time you're on the mainland--or eBay).

If it sounds liking clothing that is appropriate for only 1 season, it is because

I wear dress casual for work(required) and jeans and t-shirt or capris. I shop usually at h&mor Conways in NYC.I shop at Burlington Coat factory tjmaxx/marshalls and old navy. It has to be in black, purple and jewel tones.I really hate clothes shopping.
that is probably also why i don't have a lot of costumes either.I know fashion police arrest me I'm guilty.

pencil jeans/skirts, heels or other fancy shoes, lots of vintage, always have my hair and makeup done, blouses or nice sweaters....a nice balance between classic and trendy. I do, however, also love rocking the Hanes white T with a pair of jeans and cool shoes.

As far as buying new pieces, I do get a lot of things from Target, H & M, as well as vintage shops, and love the sales

I'm essentially allergic to sweats or anything of the like out of the dance studio

New York & Co. (you just missed an awesome Summer sale!)
    JC Penny
    Kohls
    Macy's
Christina Russe (just fell in love with the style, though most of the clothes don't fit the average woman)
    An array of random boutiques

I dress quite conservative, but it has a nice, clean, sexy look to it. Too much black. I can't get out of that rut. And when I'm not in a good mood, I just grab something that may match.

As a lower level administrative secretary, a fair number of my "working" clothes come from "Christopher and Banks" (which has an on-line shop, so if there's anything I want at the store that they don't still have in my size...). ..g.: The link would be Women's Clothing: pants shirts jackets sweaters at Christopher & Banks (had to go double check off of the last receipt I had from the skirt and dress I bought just two weeks ago). (I find it fascinating that what I typed in for the link morphed into more than what I typed.)

I wear jeans (Levis), t-shirt tops, and tank tops. I work as a secretary in different schools, and we don't dress up, so I wear the same thing to work with flipflops. In the winter I wear jeans, sweaters, and boots. I never dress up anymore.

Right now, jeans and a lady wife beater type of tank top or a skirt and tank top. It's hot in Sacramento! Vans or Chucks on my non-dressy days. For work, I do the typical "lady who has to look important" thing--trousers, heels, usually some kind of modern-dressy black shirt--kind of like a t-shirt with embellishments--like cuffs on the sleeves or puffed shoulders or some added draping...I get 90% of my stuff at Ross. Some from Nordstrom Rack. Old Navy is in there and JC Penney has great deals on work clothes.

Re: what do you wear when you are not dancing?

At home: I work at home so tend to go for comfort, but it's very easy to fall into schlubby and I try hard not to do that. I also hate to change clothes at the studio and I'm there a lot at the moment, so my dance and hanging-out clothes have a tendency to converge. I wear mostly jeans and knits -- yoga pants, t-shirts, sleeveless tops -- but everything has to be fitted, wrapped, or otherwise detailed to show some shape. I can't do boxy cuts, bulky fabrics, or high necks without feeling like a linebacker or my mother, bless her heart. No shoes in the house; mules or slides or clogs or boots elsewhere.

Out and about: Curvy lines, nothing foofy. Looove the wrap dresses that have been around for the last couple of years. I have a bunch. I have a desire to hoard them. When they become so unfashionable again that you can't find them anywhere, I will have to go naked and you'll all be sorry. Trumpety skirts and wrap tops get a lot of use, too. Your new Ds will want to make friends with wrap and mock-wrap necklines, Jes -- they're very boob-friendly! Low, wide Vs and scoops are also good.

Saturated colors, earthy colors, and prints with clean lines and dark backgrounds. Most pastels and traditional florals don't work for me.

You can thank Dianne von Furstenberg for 'em and so they'll be around a looong time.

She's still going strong, certainly, so with luck her ideas will be, too. They were gone from mainstream retail for what seemed like a decade, though -- I was worried! Diane herself doesn't make 'em in my size. (Not that I could afford them if she did, but it would be nice to contemplate.)

Re: what do you wear when you are not dancing?

Clothes wise I mostly shop at little boutiques. I like well made unique clothing. Im usually in little dresses all year round (with leggings or stockings if its cold out). During the summer I will wear skirts and tank tops but im not very happy about it. Im big into the 50's pinup girl look so I buy a lot of dresses from that era. I really like looking nice and girly all the time, I think thats the main point of my style :).

Most of my bags are Betsey Johnson although I do have some Louis Vuitton and Guess.

I am into high heels in a huge way. Ive got everything from Nicole Miller to random Itallian brands to platforms I found at a thrift shop.

    Kewl!!

I hate clothes, but then I also hate being naked. So, when I'm not at work or dancing I stay home. That way I can just wear tank, tees and workout pants. Since I have to be presentable at work I usually wear stretchy black pants ( to hide the thigh curse passed on by my mothers family). I try to wear colorful tops to balance out the black.

Most of my wardrobe comes from JCPenney. Their sizing is pretty generous.

The joys of being retired..What the hŁll I like!
Which is mostly jeans or linen trousers and T shirt.
My can't go without is a pair of comfortable (but hopefully funky not frumpy )shoes, a scarf ( also funky not frumpy) and good handbag..this year's investment : two Kiplings.
Going out at night I morph into killer heels and silk may replace linen as I just bought 2 gorgeous pieces from their retro line..in the SALE! Another joy of being retired..you're there at the beginning!
Favourites shops.forget designers..long live M&S 's Per Una and Next.

I'm a psychobilly chick. For work I wear pencil skirts, heels, diner shirts or round neck cardigans, or a wrapover dress. Polka dots tend to feature heavily. At home I often wear similar things in slightly less conservative prints, but often T shirt, 3/4 jeans, Swing skirts, A line dresses, skulls cherries and old school tattoo flash prints feature heavily. Favourite brands are Pin Up Couture, Stop Staring, Hell bunny, Lucky 13.

I lurrve 40s-50s retro, and tend to do my hair in victory rolls a lot, or psychobilly pomps, which work quite well as I have an undercut.

I have a couple of pair of jeans, but I wear them only in fall and whinter. I am not a jeans person. I prefer casual trousers (more confy!)

In Montreal's hot summer, I like sundresses, cotton skirts, capri pants, T-shirts, camis and girly tops (love a bit of blink-blink on them!)

I shop in outlets, liquidation centers, sidewalk sales and ma favorite thriftshoppes. (winking at Azhia! )

I am usualy very lucky in thriftshoppes!
