What to wear for a lesson/show gig tonight?
I'm doing a "Girls Night Out" gig tonight for a bride and her bridesmaids and having a bit of an issue deciding what to wear.
I'm teaching them a short lesson and then giving a brief performance (~8 minutes) and while I would normally wear a cute teaching outfit with jewelry, hair and makeup done to hafla-glam for this type of event, but I'm not sure if I should do something different tonight...
What do you usually wear for these sorts of gigs and do you change any bit of your outfit before your mini-set?

I usually do the mini-set first, in costume, then teach in costume (lifting my skirt as needed to show my legs).
If I were doing the set last, though, I'd probably do it just like you said above. Cute teaching outfit, I might wear a costume belt rather than a hip scarf. Plenty of jewelry and glam hair, yes.

You could either do the lesson/show in your cute teaching outfit, or if you have a comfortable costume, you could do your lesson/show in costume. I've done mine in costume before, when I started the program with a mini performance and then did the lesson.

For the last lesson/show that I did, I wore a "cute teaching outfit" and then changed into a costume for the performance. I wore a bra/skirt costume so it was a quick change.

I usually put a chiffon skirt on over my cute teaching outfit pants, then whip it quickly off after the performance and voila - I'm ready to teach.

I'm doing one of those next week for one of the moms at the studio I teach at. Since she sees me with my fresh face and boring teaching attire each week, I'm currently planning on doing the whole thing in costume. This person's daughter practically lives at the dance studio, so I'm sure she's sick to death of seeing the requisite dancewear!
Since your event is for a bridal party, I'd almost be more inclined to err on the glam side and wear your costume for the entire duration. Or wear a very elegant Melodia and tie-top outfit with your most blinged out hip scarf and some great jewelry.
There really is no right or wrong way to do this. Just give them the "mystery" of a full costume at least for half of the show. They're paying good money for it, after all, and probably expecting it.

If you know what the colors are for the wedding, choose a costume that matches the wedding colors. I did that for one of these gigs awhile ago and the bride was delighted. I've only done two of these, but both times I wore a costume and taught in my costume, lifting my skirt to show my knees on occasion. Once I did it in a simple cabaret costume and once in a gypsy style costume with gobs of coins.

Thanks for the input everyone! :) It's very much appreciated.
Shahla - I have been told that she likes blue and green, so I plan to incorporate those colors in whatever outfit I wear.

I'm going to try a few options when I get home from work.
I'm leaning towards putting a black circle skirt over my teaching pants and wearing the belt from my pharonics butterfly costume with a matching tie top for a sparkly gypsy-esque kind of look (jewelry, eye kandy with false lashes and the whole nine of course). Then I can just wear the belt as my hip scarf with the pants while I teach.
Maybe I'll add the bra in too, but I don't want to risk snagging the top on the sequins and rhinestones.
