Sew-on settings for giant stones...HELP!!
I've got a bunch of HUGE swarovski brooch stones -- oval, pear and heart- shaped -- which I cannot use because there's no way to attach them to a costume

Do any of you intrepid costumers know of a place that sells giant sew-on (any, really -- I can improvise) prong settings? Failing that, any ideas about how to attach these gorgeous creatures???
(I'm thinking hot pink, fuchsia and red with the heart-shaped stones -- like embodying a huge valentine...)

I attach the flat backed ones with gem glue, but someone here will definitely know the answer.

So they are not acrylic? If they were acrylic I have a jewelers hand drill that can drill holes... other than that your choice is to glue it or take it to a jeweler to drill holes in the glass.

I have used gem glue in the past and that worked well but it wouldn't if they are not flat on the back.

They are not acrylic; they are yummy, super-reflective Swarovski AB crystal...I would attempt to glue if they were flat back, but they have the faceted backs (hence the super-sparkle), so I need settings...HELP!

Are the crystals top drilled?

I have had the same problem.
Lots of places sell the stones (not drilled or sew on stones, but the large crystals meant to be put in a setting), but not the settings. I think they look nicer in the settings.
I have glued them as well but prefer to sew them with the settings because they look more appealing that way.
You could try calling M&J Trims in NY. They used to have them, but even they seemed to be phasing them out last time I was there.

I've bought brooch stones in settings from Dreamtime Creations, if you called them they might be able to sell you just the settings.

if you know how to do beadwork, you could sew them with beaded bezels...where the beads are sewn in a way that they are built up around the stone to secure it. i haven't tried these, so i am not sure how difficult/secure they are.

No holes in the crystals; I'm thinking the beaded bezels backed by glue might be the way to go. I'll check out Dreamtime in the meantime...anybody else out there with info/ideas???
