Help I fell off the Daily Plate Wagon and I can't get back on!

Crap! We went camping 3 weeks ago and I ate total junk camp food. IT was 105 in Eastern WA and I wasn't about to cook.....so instead of eating fresh seasonal fruit, I fell off the Daily Plate Wagon after 7 or 8 weeks of being so good. ,m::

Oh yeah, hot dogs, s'mores, Captain Crunch, all that bad junk. Now I can't seem to get back on. I felt so much more energized, alert, and fit. Still running but just can't get motivated to take care of my body nutritionally.

How do you all get back on the track to healthy eating? I am so mad at myself as I feel I just undid everything I built up. I was so into it before (even though the scale hadn't moved, I felt so great)

    Help..c:: I need a kick in the A$$

You just do it. You let go of your slip-up and move-on. You feel better when you do it, your body and energy feels better...what more do you need for motivation? Show your body the love it deserves!

im with ya there...but I'm getting back on from a whole summer of camping and vacations....
    geeze oh man! good luck
I'm sitting here eating a vegetarian white egg omlet and fresh fruit for break fast! I don't know why anyone would not want to eat healthy, as ozma said, AND a lot of the food tastes better. I am sorry, but it might be easy to eat hotdogs and captain crunch (and I have) but it really doesn't make me want to eat it again like fresh pineapple and cantaloupe!

Start one meal at a time... don't think further than your next meal. Once you have one that's healthy again, you'll be proud of yourself and feel better, so the next is easier and the next, and soon you're back on track before you know it.

Re: Help I fell off the Daily Plate Wagon and I can't get back on!

Something I've been doing lately when my body just screams "I WANT, I WANT!": I stock up on my favorite foods that have some nutritional value, and I present them nicely to myself... Sliced strawberries in a martini glass with a sprinkle of sugar, that kind of thing. Brie cheese (yum) is one thing that can always lure me away from the crap foods. When I get on an "I WANT" kick, I don't worry about fat content- if something has enough nutritional value to feel good about feeding to a child of normal weight, it's healthy enough for me. The underlying issue for me seems to be to eat in a manner that makes me feel nurtured and satisfied and not deprived: I tell myself I can HAVE, but I deserve better than the crap foods I tend to gravitate towards when I'm on one of those kicks. Seems like when I try to feed the "I WANTS" with crap foods, I eat more and more of them but the "I WANTS" never go away... Food that I love that is healthy and beautiful (I know this sounds so dorky but apparently on some emotional level I sometimes need to look at my plate and feel like my food is beautiful!..) actually seems to satisfy the "I WANTS".
I know, I have food issues, but just in case anybody has similar ones, this has helped me stay at a healthy weight for over a year now.

I too, fell off. Computer crash caused a massive detour in my life. I am on it 5 to 6 hours a day for work. I need back on. I felt better and more in CONTROL...and I love that!

For the first time since starting TDP last memorial day weekend, I didn't log anything from Friday night through Sunday. I ate pizza, chicken Korma and all kinds of bad things. Paid the price, I'm up two pounds. But, I hopped back on the wagon yesterday.

Maybe what you could do is set aside a day to be "nice" to yourself. Go to a spa, if you can afford it, for the day. If not, take a day off from work and have an at home spa day with good healthy foods that you love to snack on.

Don't dwell on a few s'mores, it's not the end of the world. Just jump back on the wagon and do what you know makes you feel better.

Don't forget that overall healthy eating is a LIFESTYLE and not a diet...don't beat yourself up over it and stock your house with all the healthy goodies you love. Stay off the scale for a couple of weeks and don't forget to wear clothing that makes you feel like a million bucks, even now when you feel bad. A week or two of junk food is just a blip in a lifetime!

Pause and think before you put it in your mouth. How badly do you REALLY want it? Does it really taste THAT good?

Eating healthy is YUMMY! Captain Crunch and hot dogs? Blech. If you're going to be bad, sit down and savor a fresh baked pastry or hollandaise sauce over asparagus - in moderation.

I think we all do it... we put junk in our mouths out of convenience, impulse and cravings... not because we really enjoy it, yanno?

    You CAN do it!

I think this is key for me. I am so all or nothing. I will try and think "one at a time"

Thanks ladies. (Especially Ozma, you're right, it's that simple) but now I've got the taste for crappy stuff and I have to get that out of my system again. yes, yes, one meal at a time.......c::
