My birthday is October 15th (#42!) and this is my present to myself--hopefully I'll be healed enough to get the jewelry changed mid-to-end of October.

I'm not worried about TSA...if the wand beeps I'm just enough of a brat to announce loudly "oh that must be my PIERCING" and bust out a booty dance ..l;,

FYI Most body piercings don't register on metal detectors unless there are loads of them (like seriously, loads of them) One or three piercings isn't going to set them off :P No matter how funny/embarrassing it would be.

Yeah, body piercings won't register on metal detectors at the airport. I have my tongue pierced (though I rarely wear it anymore) and once tested this for fun at the airport. The metal detector wand picked it up though.

I always wanted my navel pierced, but I don't have the right kind! No one will pierce it because it's not the right shape, it will come right out. Darn it.

My VCH does not set off the alarms at the airport. Welcome to the club! It's a great piercing... very quick healing with lots of nice benefits!

Congrats! I keep going back and forth on getting my nose pierced again (same nostril, right beside the current one). I may just do that today.

Metal detectors are totally not a problem for me, and I have 12 individual holes that usually all have metal jewelery.

wow, that's gutsy....now of course, my mind wanders to wonder "can you get it stuck on a seam in something/what happens when you wear a bikini?" It can't have a negative affect on sensation, can it? I've heard about that for nipple piercings...

as for me, I have regular earlobe piercings and a cartilage piercing, about to get a tattoo if I can ever find an artist who isn't on vacation as soon as I call for an appointment. I TOTALLY understand what you mean about the piercing high--after I got my cartilage done I wanted to get 5 more done!

There's a risk of nerve damage when piercing the clitoris, but a hood piercing is a horse of another color entirely!

It's Day 3 of healing and I'm following Hank's after-care instructions to the letter...so far so good!

It really takes only a few days (4-5) for hood healing to take place. I took the easy way out and my "saline solution" to soak/rinse with was cheap-o contact solution! Very convenient for quick rinses!

Alright...that's just so cute. ..g.: I'm happy for ya.

My brother in law (sweetie and a total adrenaline junkie) pierced his own nipples and also gave himself two prince Alberts. *owie*

Just wondering what is the total time for healing for that type of piercing?

I just recently got my nose pierced 2 months ago. My eyes teared up like a baby..It healed up very well though. I was worried, I had problems with my belly button when I had it done a few years back. Now I'm thinking about going to get my belly button re pierced in December along with a new tattoo.

I was told 4-6 weeks for this piercing....I hear belly buttons can take up to a year!

Yes, belly button piercings take a very long time to heal. I had mine done several years ago but ended up removing it after four months because the skin wouldn't heal. I was also staying at a hotel in San Juan in the middle of summer, and the humidity was driving me crazy. One night, I woke up, aggravated, and practically yanked it off. The next morning (five hours later), the piercing had completely closed. I was devastated and pissed off at myself because I'd come such a long way in the healing process.

I'm thinking of re-doing it. This thread is definitely making me want to give it a second chance.

Good for you woman! Personally, I'm happy with my nose piercing and tatoo. May get the tatoo touched up and added to but that's it for me. I couldn't handle anything else.

    Wow...that takes some serious guts.

I got my tounge pierced and damn near passed out. The poor guy just looked so nervous for me. I just took it out a few months ago tho. It was damaging my lower teeth. I have two tats tho and love em. I have Eeyore on my back and three Kanji that reads "special, special, special" on my ankle.

I have thought about getting my bellybutton done but I won't do it until it stops playing hide-n-seek every time I sit down and stand up!

Your nerve impresses me. Rock on.

You know, I have my nose pierced too, and when i was getting it done i kept cracking up. They clamp your nostril open and for some reason that (plus nerves) was equalling major giggles. They did the piercing, I don't remember if my eyes watered, and I took some tylenol when we got back in the truck and that was the last it hurt.

I did get it pierced with a ring so they could use a smaller gauge needle, and switched to a stud about two weeks after piercing it.
