    Anti-aging skin care

So, for those of us not in our twenties anymore, what skin care products are you using and liking right now? I tried the LiftFusion Triple Threat Intense Target Magic Wand and I liked it, but it really needs to come in a larger size. It did not last very long. Then, my friend Samira gave me a bottle of Osmotics Crease-Less to try, because it did not work on her skin, and I love it! It has definitely made a difference and it lets me put off Botox for another few months!!! LOL!!!

I also have been using Olay's Micro-Sculpting Cream and really like that. I have been blessed with my mother's softish jawline. I would love to have a chiseled, sharp jawline like Angelina Jolie, but nope, I got my mom's instead!! I have noticed a difference with the Olay Cream and it is not horribly expensive. I ususally do not use Olay products, but after reading dozens of reviews, I decided to give it a whirl.

    What are you using/trying/loving/hating?

Also, has anyone tried LiftFusion Face Lift? I am very curious about that product!

    Re: Anti-aging skin care

I keep coming back to Olay products. So far I haven't found anything better at any price, and these I can afford to use. I like their microdermabrasion kit, and the definity line. I haven't tried the micro sculpting cream.

I'd like to try the Osmotics Crease Less, sounds good!

Right now I'm not too happy with my skin. I'm ready to up the ante and spend more, if I can find products that work better. But I'm also kind of resigned to the fact that nothing can stop the march of time, and I'm not going to look 20 no matter what I put on.

I'm not ready for surgical intervention -- yet. But I might consider a peel or medical sandblasting if it would really make a difference.

great thread...........i'm not worried as much about lines, but more on skin texture and elasticity, so i'm curious as well.............i'm not trying to look 20 either, but sagging jawlines aint cute :p.....especially since most BD dancers are pretty toned in their bodies by comparison.................

After playing with Retin A for ten years (it did a great job on skin texture and reducing wrinkles), I went back to the dermatologist and have started Obagi, to make my skin tone even and remove sun damage. Obagi uses bleaching agents and retin A both. A powerful tool to turn back my skin to looking younger. Over the counter products are great, but doctor prescribed stuff works much better.

And to clarify, I am not trying to look 20 either, just trying to look better! And trying to put Botox off for a few more months!!!

I've just finished using my first tube of OTC retinol lotion and it was hugely disappointing. I don't have a dermatologist -- or even a GP doctor these days. Can I just call one up, get an appointment, and get some Retin A?

On a not a product line of thought, make sure you are protected from the sun when ever you go out, as it is hugely damaging to your skin. And make sure you get plenty of water both inside and out. If you live in a place where it is dry, like I do, buy a humidifier. get facials which use steam.

My daily moisturizer of choice is still St. Ives when I can find it. But because it comes in a huge pot and doesn't cost a lot, I use it religiously.

But I am looking for a decent serum to use around my eyes which tend to be a little dehydrated.

The other side of all of this though is that I have really good genes. My maternal grandmother had amazing skin with few wrinkles and little sagging until she died.

Echoing Tahiradancer, and not meaning to give unsolicited advice but here I am doing it, stay out of/protect yourself from the sun and *whispering* stop smoking. Tabacco has a deleterious effect on the skin, preventing oxygen from getting to the skin cells.

I like to use the least amount of whatever in whatever so I love love love Weleda's SKIN FOOD. I slather it all over my face and especially around my eyes at night before bed and just a touch underneath primer/makeup during the day. I'm a grease ball before I hit the sack.

Option one would be to schedule a dermatologist appointment, meet with the doctor and have them write a prescription for Retin A. That was what I did ten years ago. Retin A, or any topical prescription, is extremely powerful! If you slather it on like the OTC products, you'll look like a snake shedding its skin and cry every time you look in the mirror. Be careful, and use it very sparingly until your skin gets used to it (and it will). Use it the first day, putting on a thin layer, and wait a few days, then use it again. Eventually your skin will become accustomed to the product and you can use it once or twice a day. You will see results. It's not cheap though. Retin A will improve your skin texture/tone, and really reduce wrinkles.

Option two would be to schedule an appointment with a doctor of dermatology at a local skin care clinic. These types of businesses are separate entities from the mega-sized medical clinics and hospitals in a community. They will fill Retin A prescriptions, and also provide prescription options for those people with age spots/hyperpigmentation from the sun, acne discolorations, etc.

And I avoid the sun like the plague, and wear 45+ sunscreen when I'm outside. This from a woman who spent her life "getting tan" with oil and no sunscreen. Uggh!

    My advice to young women:

    1. Don't smoke tobacco, and avoid being in situations where you're around tobacco smoke a lot.

    2. Don't spend a lot of time in tanning booths or in the sun tanning.

Both of the above activities cause wrinkles at prematurely young ages.

    anala -

unfortunately, wattles are hereditary. Believe it or not, it comes from your fathers side of the family. When I am thinner I have one as well. Have since my early 30's! That may be worth having surgery to correct!

So, I'm not in the qualifying zone for this, but I say lots of water and if you are of fair skin-avoid the sun.

I have the solution! I recently had the treatment described in this article and was stunned, absolutely stunned, by the results.

I only wish I'd found it before I started wrinkling and sagging, it might have prevented a lot of grief....

I read the link, this sounds wonderful. I'll ask my skin doctor about it when I see her next time. Thanks Bellydanceoz!

As I approach 50 (ack! How did THAT happen) I'm finding my skin is getting brown splotches -- I'm sure from my childhood in the San Fernando Valley in California when my Mom would tell me to "go outside and get some fresh air" (in L.A., in the sixties and seventies -- you gotta be kidding!) I'm considering a similar treatment to the Rejuvalight, since I've tried all the topicals and no help. Blast. Mom says getting old ain't for sissies.

    Re: Anti-aging skin care

A belly dancer I met once, who looks very youthful in both figure and skin, told me her secret was healthy eating, no children "and all of my late nights have been spent with lovers." I'll drink to that!

To be honest, little makes much difference regarding tightening and firming in my experience. I think exfoliation is helpful for ageing skin, but I notice all the mainstream lines have stopped producing home microdermabrasion/exfoliation lines and are now touting "serums" instead. Tricky.

I have had some unpleasant hormonal spots in this last year which have left dark marks, and I am quite keen to try a mild peel. I just have to save up the cash for it.

I've already had children, dang it!

But....is there any chance that lots and lots and lots of great sex might be the secret? Anyone tried that yet? Report? Before and after photos?

    Maya,Zumarrad and Lauren-
You made me laugh out loud in the netcafé!
Now people are looking at me...

Anyway,I have spent my entire teens and twenties(approaching middle of the 30:s)fighting acne.
Now I fight acne AND wrinkles!

    AHA:s *really works* for me,
so I recommend Alpha Hydrox "AHA Souffle"and Paula´s Choice "AHA Gel 8%" to anyone over 30.

Want kids but don´t have any, wouldn´t mind looking older if I could be a mom one day:)

However-I truly believe that laughing every day,
sleeping well and not going hungry makes me a more attractive woman...That´s where the loads of great sex comes from,
    I guess:D

I don't think I could buy this, on grounds that it has the most rediculous sounding name I've ever heard. You sure you didn't buy a light-saber by mistake???

PS - How about lots of mediocre sex, do you think that works? Seems to be much easier to come by.

As long as you make sure to sigh in front of the mirror,
and complain to your partner about the quality?
(I´m pretty sure it will lead to awesome sex)

I'm sure lots of great sex has much to do with great skin. Notice the "glow" after a bout of great lovemaking (if you care to look in the mirror!).
Has something to do with the endorphins, blood circulation, "workout" factor, etc. etc. etc.

LOL!!!! I will 'fess up, in order to include the product name in this post, I had to jump back to the website twice to make sure I got the name correct! It definitely sounds like a kid's toy as opposed to a grown woman's skin care product!!
