Thread: trying to find chiffon

So now that all the fabric stores have closed up in my area I am forced to order fabric on-line and over the phone. My dilemma is that I want to order tons of that thick, super silky, iridescent chiffon that is used in most of the Pharonics of Egypt skirts. Does anyone know the specific name for this fabric?

Don't know about the fabric used by Pharonics, but some of my favorite online fabric shops include:

I tend to use Denver a little more because they sell swatches of the fabric, then you can tell if the stuff is the right color and weight. Their service is very fast, and prices are reasonable.

For the weight of fabric you are looking for, you might want to look at the silk crepe, georgette or double georgette (bit heavier than regular georgette), charmeuse, or habotai weights.

we use thai silks at the places i work for. they have samples that they will send out (you have to buy the samples though) but the fabrics are nice.

I am dying to know to where to get that chiffon!
