Thread: Qualities of your favorite dress

I'm thinking about making a new dress made out of a stretch velvet. It will be cabaret style with some cut outs or latticing. What are some qualities of your favorite dresses? What are things you don't like?

I'm not a fan of the skirts that are girdled snugly around the hips/bum area and then flare out to a skirt. I realized that that style makes my ass look like a flat square.

I've realized I love side cut outs as opposed to ones over the belly because they make my waist disappear.

I do love dresses that fit well around the bodice area to avoid a saggy look and I usually prefer halter tops or sleeves to tank top styles.

Oh, and being a member of the IBTC, I look for dresses with built-in bras that I can stuff easily unless it's something like a baladi dress that I can easily find a good bra to wear under without worrying about straps showing.

What Miriam, exactly, except I prefer cross-cross straps. It just feels more secure.

I love when the mesh goes all the way down the leg. Sexy, but not Oh My! Slits on the side or over a knee. Asymmetry. Popping (even funky) color combos. And all of mine have gauntlets and headbands cuz that's just how I roll. ;)

Likes:

• A design/style that is unique, that doesn't look like a clone of everything else out there.
• A full skirt that accents the dancer's spins or Arabesques
• Cutouts on the hip

Dislikes:

• Center front slit
• Cutout over the center of the belly area
