Thread: prenatal belly dance

Here are a couple of videos of me dancing in my living room 2 days before the birth of my third son. I taught and performed up until 1 week before my son was due. I am in the process of writing an article on belly dancing will pregnant . i'll share that when I have finish it. for me belly dancing really help prenatally and postpartum. I had to have a c-section because of a previous surgery and they did not want me to push . belly dancing really kept those tummy muscles in check beacuse I was performing and teaching 2 months after giving birth. I was scared because i herd of stories where the belly dancer did not get there stomach muscles back after a c section. I was sure to tell the doctor that I do teach and perform belly dance and how important my belly rolls are to me(LOL) and they said they do not cut the muslce any more. So if any of you have to get a c-section make sure you let them know it is important for them to not cut those stomach muscles. there is hope after the c-section I can belly roll with the best of them!

Nope, not pregnant yet but hopefully soon.

stop trying that usually works . With the first one i tried from about 6 months then decided I was never going to get pregnant ; the month i i gave up I got pregnant

I also danced until just before my daughter was born. And was up and dancing and performing about 2-3 months after. I didn´t have c-section though, but also felt that dancing helped both my pregnancy, labour and the recovery after. I had pretty severe contractions almost every day for the last half of my pregnancy when standing and walking. But never when dancing!

Lovely, thanks for posting. Im 22 weeks today!! I havent done alot of dancing this time but I am doing a little bit.

This time around (3rd) have had a lot of pressure pains and sharp electric type shocks across my belly so Im taking it easy. Backward figure 8s and circles is about it.
