Re: Smokey eye spin-off: how long does it take you?
Color I use is black frost. I have seen it called black velvet also.

Re: Smokey eye spin-off: how long does it take you?
Back in my bellygram days my motto was Zero to Goddess in Fifteen Minutes. I wear hairpieces so my hair only takes maybe 3-5 minutes, so that helps. but I could get a phone call from my agency and be done up and in costume and out the door in 15 minutes if I had to.
these days I like at least 20 minutes for hair and makeup. 30 is better and more relaxed. if I can get the time (har, with two little kids and daddy who never quite makes it home in time to have any sort of smooth transition) I love to take a luxurious 45 minutes or so. this is all for full-on, stage or photo worthy, false lashes and glitter, flowers in the hair, shop face. I don't think I could stretch it into an hour to tell the truth. with motherhood comes Xtreme efficiency. ;)
in a serious pinch I can do my primer foundation and brows at home and swing the rest in the car on the way to a gig. I often wait until I get to my gig to do my lipstick, so it will hold off on the feathering (yes, you pretty young things, it will happen to you some day!) and keep it from getting on things when I change.
getting out of shop face takes just a couple minutes. I do it in the shower usually (so all told, with shower and shampoo 15 minutes) because I hate sleeping dirty! I keep makeup remover wipes in my gig bag and often take off shadow, cheeks and lips either when I change or in my car on the way home. either way I wash my face once with regular cleanser, go over the stuff that's still there with an oily remover of some type (cold cream, jojoba oil, bi-facil or almay pads), another rinse and wipe with an old ratty and rough washcloth and I'm done.

Full make up with lashes and hair when I am ina hurry - 15 - 20 mins. When I have time, 30. It's my theatre training. When you have large casts and small dressing rooms, you learn to get in, get it done and get out! Besides, if I fuss too long, I end up wiping it all off and starting again!
