Hooray! Low-sodium diet drops 20 pts. bp!
Just have to report back that at my check up yesterday, my bp dropped 20 pts as a direct result of my cutting back on sodium, which was well, *heck* for the first two months becuase I"m such a salt vampire ,f::! I used to even salt pizza, if you can believe it.
Anyway, no bp meds for me and now restaurant foods do taste almost too salty at times. However, I'm now struggling with an intense fresh ground pepper and fresh lemon juice addiction but hey, until they tell me it's bad for me, I put pepper and lemon it on almost all my food.
I also managed to wean myself from most preserved or canned foods which is where most sodium "lives" and deli meats are the worst!
Happy, happy, joy joy!!!!!!!!..g.:..g.:..g.:..g.:..g.:..g.:..g.:

Wow, that's TREMENDOUS! Congratulations!
It's amazing how attuned we get to salt and to sugar. It's brutal to give up either one, but after a couple of months you wonder how you ever ate so much of it!

Well, that's true, except when I cut back on refined sugar started using Splenda, I dropped five pounds IMMEDIATELY but now I have a serious "Splenda addiction" - can't stand any of the other sugar substitutes yet I still have a sweet tooth when it comes to coffee and tea. Turns out that Splenda actually IS sugar, it's coated with BLEACH so the body can't absorb it..w.: *sigh* So I'm eating bleach.......ewww and ick.

I'm not going to beat myself up over this; instead I'm focussing on working out more,r:; - our director has us doing a variety of ab exercises at every class and BOY they are not your average "crunch". Now that she's recovered so well from cancer chemo (kudos to her) she has more energy to work out so she's quite the taskmaster and insists that we all need to improve core strength, and she's right. So that's my new area of focus - ab workouts and stretches every day - and I'm wondering how people fit them in and still get more than 2 hours of sleep a nigh....................
