These articles are so fascinating! I read some of the other related ones about the current Kumari's predecessor, and they listed two more of the 32 required perfect & beautiful physical attributes as "...including thighs like those of a deer and a neck like a conch shell.",r:; AND one of the rigorous tests is to spend the night with the heads of slaughtered offeratory animals?! Required of a 3- or 4-year-old?!?!

I saw this program on T.V. and the little living goddess was CARRIED EVERYWHERE she went. She wasn't allowed to do anything. I felt sorry for her b/c she didn't enjoy it at all. It was the parents who were really into all of the fame.

From our cultural perspective, it is bizarre, eh? But to them they are probably thrilled to have a human figure to worship again.
