Disco Ball Earrings, Ornaments, Pendants
During costume and holiday season, if anyone spies anything like these: Dangle SEQUIN BALL EARRINGS-Mod, Disco, Flapper--Silver - eBay (item 250298098403 end time Oct-21-08 07:30:39 PDT) at a store, let me know. Aren't they begging to become part of a costume?
I think I've seen "real" ones, too - the kind with the little mirrors - in the Christmas ornaments.

Did I mention that we actually have a rotating 10" disco ball? With a spotlight? It's in my husband's music studio.

No home is complete without a working disco ball in my opinion.

Wow, I had no idea! You two just get cooler and cooler by the minute, and you were pretty darned cool already.

(Leaving for the airport in 2.5 hours! Wait till I get my hands on the guy who made these reservations....)

Samira and Zana - You, too, can have your own rotating disco ball with spotlight! For only $29.99!
8" inch Mirror Ball Party Kit
I'm seriously thinking of getting another one for my dance practice room.
(OMG, Zana, that is so funny that you are leaving in a little over an hour for the airport. Funny to me, anyway. Have a great time!)

One of the book stores, I'm pretty sure it was Borders, had lots of disco ball stuff last year. My son bought a box of really cool 2" ornaments...maybe they will stock them again!
Oh, found some online...they were like these but they were colored. Seems like he got some in red and some in silver...

*yawn*
And off we go! Text me your mailing address if you think of it, please. There may be some brochures the tourist board has neglected to send you.

Re: Disco Ball Earrings, Ornaments, Pendants
My entire Christmas tree is starting to have a disco ball theme.
I should be embarrassed, but it's hard to embarrass a bellydancer.

Re: Disco Ball Earrings, Ornaments, Pendants
I came "this close" to finding what I've been looking for. Marshall's is selling packs of 10 or 12 little disco ball ornaments. They're about 1.2-2 inches in diameter, a little too big for my costume idea. Actually, I wouldn't mind using the plastic versions instead of the mirror ones - the mirrored balls don't click and clink like the plastic do.
So, anyone else see 1 inch or smaller diameter disco balls out in the Christmas stuff this year?

Re: Disco Ball Earrings, Ornaments, Pendants
Man, I remember in the 70s, my mother bought some earrings that were almost exactly the same as those, but even better because the sequinning was sort of textured and raised looking. They were gold. She only wore them once or twice because Dad mocked them. In fact, she wore them with a russet and orange Aztec print polished cotton kaftan she'd made, an afro perm and her hair quite red. Dad also mocked the kaftan. Two bad things are at work here: my father's tendency to mock unusual fashions, and my mother's failure to really stick to "I don't care I like it".
I really wish I had those earrings now. Being gold they wouldn't have suited me, but MAN they were cool.

Re: Disco Ball Earrings, Ornaments, Pendants
The disco ball costume idea has been done: I walked in the local first night parade last year, and I had taken some of the disco ball ornaments from Borders and attached them to my coin costume ;-) One problem - these things get entangled with each other.
This year, I bought a big mirror ball ornament and it is now resting on a stand in front of our house.

I saw some perfect disco ball type beads at JoAnn the other day in one of the special Blue Moon bead collections. They had gunmetal gray and black. I no longer need them, but wanted to mention them in case someone else is interested.
