Thread: tipping salon owner do you or don't you?

I've read in etiquette books that while you tip for your salon services, you don't tip the owner of the salon. I just bought a package of microderm and the owner is the one who does the treatment. When I go for each treatment do I still tip her each time? (I've prepaid the whole price)
Do you tip for these things and if so, 20%? I wish it was all just built into the whole price..c::

and especially in these difficult financial times, tips are appreciated more than ever - imo

I don't see why you wouldn't tip the owner if she was the one doing the procedures. She's giving you her time, just the same as any of her employees would.

Right but the employees get a percentage of the total for the services (when I was doing hair it was 50/50 with the salon). The thinking was that if the owner got both the stylist's and salon's shares then a tip wasn't necessary.

That having been said, I tip whoever does my hair

I tip everyone at least 20%. Waitress, stylist, whatever. I certainly can't do my own hair {shiver} and waitresses work so hard. A person has to really suck to lose their tip with me... and even then I give something.
