Boob spinoff ~ turkey neck syndrome

Ok. I am only 32. I am not freaking out yet (repeating this to myself as a mantra).

My whole family is full of turkey necks. I know it's inevitable. I already see two little small loose areas on my neck that appear to be trying to make the downward slide into waddle-ville. HELP. Is there ANYTHING one can do to slow this down???? Or do I just grin & bear it until a facelift is inevitable? How do they deal with these waddles these days? Old fashioned facelife? Or is there some new facelift method? Can I duct-tape my neck up? ..cr.:

I'm telling you, since I was 8 years old I've know I'd be having a facelift of some sort to deal with the waddle. When can I expect to have to pay up & get it done. Should I start saving now? Okay. I am not freaking out...I am not freaking out...I am not freaking out....I am SO freaking out.....

I saw my plastic surgeon about my neck and he said it wasn't bad enough to treat surgically yet. He told me there were some exercises I could try in the meanwhile and to use a firming cream and be delicate when touching the loosening skin under my chin. However, he said none of those are really a solution but may slow it down a little.

And yes, I would start saving now. Just to have my eyelids done and a brow lift was quoted at 10k.

Just turned 32 myself and my waddle is well into its walk. I just try to keep my head up and jaw bone just slightly jutted to take some of the edge (or lack thereof) off. I will never be able to pay for plastic surgery but I bet there are exercises that you can do to tone up the mussle there.

This is something my mom is very sensitive about. It does run in my family as well. She recently did Thermage: Thermage
which is a non-invasive, non-surgical proceedure. It helps tighten the skin. She's been really happy with it.

As far as prevention, I would assume it would be like wrinkles. Moisturize and use sunscreen on your neck to help prevent premature aging.

moisturize, treat it gently, and remember that this is probably genetic. I know mine is. And from your fathers side of the family! ;-) (Side note, like the back of your hands, there are no sweat glands in your neck, which is a large part of why these two areas apear to age more quickly than other areas.)

A Dr. who is good with a laser can do small tucks under your chin. This is less invasive and costly than traditional surgery. Lifting that and my boobs!

Holy crap, according to your profile, you're only 28....I definitely wasn't thinking about it when I was 28!

10K????? Yep, better start stuffing money in my mattress, then!

I wouldn't go by my profile info... I am well past 30. However, I plan on telling people I am 28 for as long as I can possibly get away with it (which probably won't be much longer) ..l;,

Turkey neck runs in my mom's side of the family. All the women on that side of the family have it. I can handle the crow's feet. I can handle laugh lines. Those at least, can be seen as dignified. But I do not want the turkey neck. I do moisturize and am careful to use sunblock on that part of my body.

I would never consider plastic surgery for any other part of my body, but I expect that in 15 or 20 years from now, I'll be getting my neck worked on.

    I hope I can wait 15 years ..l;,

I'm with you--I can (sort of) handle wrinkles, but the neck thing...ugh.

I'm taking my first real all-out wrinkle fighting action tomorrow--getting a glycolic peel for the first time. Red face, here I come!

Haha. I don't say that I am 32 normally I say that I am "twenty-twelve". It takes most people too long to figure out what I mean by that and then I am gone, age still uncertain.

GAH!!!!! I wanted to die! I wanted to compile a list of plastic surgeons and visit all of them!!! But I feel better about it after reading this thread; there are things to do before taking the extreme step of surgery.

Pisses me off, though--most of my adult life, I've looked 10-15 years younger than my age. Then menopause hit. Goodbye firm skin! :(

Since I can't afford surgery, or even less expensive "treatments", I've decided to embrace my turkey neck. And look up a lot. *nods toward avatar pic*

Thank you for the kind remarks about the photos! :) Just the same, I'm off to Costco; they've got a coupon deal on Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream:
    Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream

Sounds like it might help the neck-and-jawline issue.

Okay, so here's my review of my first glycolic peel...it really does help with discoloration and any minor breakouts, my skin looks nice and smooth. I think you need multiple treatments to affect much in terms of fine lines. So I ordered at 35% solution to try at home. I'm a little nervous, but I'll test it on my arm, first.

Thank God for this thread. I thought I was the only one having issues with the bloody turkey neck happening. Like Taj I'll be spending a lot of time with my head lifted. No bad thing either, as when your head and neck are elevated so is the rest of your body. Head, neck, boobs ribs etc. I'll beat gravity yet.
Now bingo wings are a whole different story...g.:..g.:..g.:
