    Glycolic peels--ever done 'em at home?

    So I had my first glycolic peel the other day. really did nice things to my skin. but I can't justify the cost to go for an entire 6 sessions right now. Anyway, you can order 35% peels to use at home. I have ordered one, but before I go slathering it on my face, has anyone done it before?

    I picked one with a lot of 5-star reviews (and no negative reviews), but still, slathering acid on your face is a little nerve wracking. .w.:

    Hi Sonja2,

    Pussygato her on board is an esthitician I believe. You may want to pm her. She gave me lots of good info.

    I just finished round 2 of 4 microderms from my facialist and I am liking the results. Let me know what you think of your results should you try an at home glycolic.

    PS Is your name pronounced Sonja or Sonya? My best friend all through elementary school was named Sonja (hard "j") and I've never met another.,r:;

    cheers

    Question :)

    How long does the redness stay? Exactly what happens afterwards as in healing times etc?

    I have been interested in having these done, but can't find much info.

    Thanks

    Re: Glycolic peels--ever done 'em at home?

    Hi!

    Okay, I've done 2 now...one at the salon, and one at home. Both were 30% glycolic acid followed by a neutralizing solution. Both burned very slightly for the 5 minutes the solution was on my face. The Neutralizing solution stops the burn instantly. My face was red (both times) for about 30 minutes afterwards, and just looks tight and shiny for up to 24 hours. After that, nothing except some very light peeling of dead skin. My skin definitely looks clearer, my skin tone has already begun to even out. My mother in law has been doing it, also, and her age spot has begun to disappear already, after only 2 treatments. The salon said it would take at least 6 to really notice a big difference, particularly in fine lines. I have not noticed much difference in fine lines, yet, but it is still worth it for the skin tone improvement.

    Thanks Sonja.

    Now if I can just convince my 'fine line loving man' that it would benefit me, lol.

    I don't know for sure, but I think you have to be very careful if you do any type of facial and have rosacea.

    I'm not an aesthetician. I'd ask a dermatologist if you have any special conditions. I really recommend having your first peel done at a derm. office anyway, just so you know how your skin will react before you try it at home. Once I knew my skin took to it well, I was less worried....I did research the companies I ordered from, though, very carefully--and read a lot of reviews and info about glycolic acid, etc... before I tried it at home. I also did a patch test on my arm before using it on my face.
