    upper / lower hip v/s booty measurement . . .

I need some help. I see a lot of people on bhuz differentiate between their upper hip measurement and lower hip measurement. Sometimes I even see a waist and a hip . . . I'm confused. To me your upper hip would be where you want the top of the skirt or pants to hit.

So, what is the lower hip? Would that be something besides your booty measurement. To me, the booty measurement would be the largest part under your hips . . . the booty. Is that the same as the lower hip?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    upper hip=waist
    lower hip=booty

    for example,
upper hip is where your pants might hit or maybe even a bit lower (i'm a 33" upper hip but wear my skirts and beldahs a bit lower at 35" or so)

lower hip is booty area, widest part of your behind where the tape measure measures

    :)

Waist would be your actual waist (not needed for bedlah obviously, but for dresses, high-waisted pants, people who don't wear their skirts starting below the hip (!), etc...)- falling about where your belly button is...

Upper hip would be around the hipbones (the upper part of the actual hips- about where your skirt waistband would go as a belly dancer; although some of us wear it a little lower still),

and the lower hip measurement is the largest measurement (usually) which would go all the way around including whole pelvis, the booty, and the very top of thighs...

This is why jeans sizes these days can be a little confusing-- they often go by 'waist' size but because of low-rise jeans, a size '26' might actually have a "waistband" that's 30-32 inches since it actually falls on the hipbones and not on the waist-- I don't know why they don't just size it by the measurement of the top of the pants but that's what they do... so it's based on the presumption that someone with a 26 waist might be 30-ish on the hipbone and 35-37 on the booty but obviously that's not always the case...
