Re: Favorite Perfume
I love Black Amethyst by Bath and Body works. I have it in body spray, but I think it comes in cologne, too. I also like Rapture by Victoria's Secret but it's kind of strong.

Re: Favorite Perfume
Armani's 'Sensi'
Chanel Sensuelle (mmmmmmmmmmm)
There's a company in France, Fragonard... I love a couple of their fragrances, but they're expensive and hard to come by. My favorite 'girly' scent is their 'Eclat' and I love 'baroque' as well. But I htink I'll wait for the exchange rate to get a little better.

Re: Favorite Perfume
I'm a big fan of hippy-dippy perfume oils, and my favorites are from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - My favorite scent for performing, evenings out, etc is Anne Bonny. But my favorites for every day are a lot lighter: Embalming Fluid (despite the creepy name, it's a really pretty citrus) and Eat Me (named for the cakes in alice in Wonderland)

Re: Favorite Perfume
When I worked in a salon I never wore any fragrances,
also avoid them now when I attend lessons or teach them-
don´t want any perfume sensitive to choke!
Weekdays:Ralph by Ralph Lauren,Eau de Givenchy and Kenzo´s Parfum d'Ete.
They are fresh and have fruit notes without being candy-ish teeny bopper:)
In weekends and on partys(when I´m sure people are not bothered):
Sonia Rykiel(the original in a peach bottle)-
it´s like a lighter and less cloying version of Thierry Mugler´s Angel.
The notes described on her website are blackcurrant, passion fruit, pineapple, mandarin, honeysuckle, rose, lily of the valley, violet, sandalwood, cedar, tonka bean and vanilla.
Tendenza by Van Gils-
arabic and persian men always comment on it for some reason?Powdery, flowery, smoky and vanilla-ish.

Re: Favorite Perfume
Old fashioned girl here -
Yves St. Lauren - Paris
Alfred Sung - Sung
and Tea Rose
Haven't really found anything new that I really like in a long time. I have several basic lotions which have floral, fruity or woodsy tone which I love and which on me are strong enough without adding an additional layer of fragrance.

Hypnotic Posion by Christian Dior, strong though so you can't put too much on.

Re: Favorite Perfume
I cherish my perfumes although I don't wear them much anymore on a daily basis. They are always part of my travel necessities, though :)
Here are my faves:
Arpčge by Lanvin
Chanel No.5 by Chanel :)
Joy by Jean Patou
Rive Gauche by YSL
Mmmmm, great thread!

Re: Favorite Perfume
Wow! Great suggestions! I'm going to print this page and use it as a treasure map at the mall this weekend. Actually Andalee, we do have a L'Occitane's store here believe it or not. So i'll check it out.
I have been a huge fan of men's Gucci Rush for years but it is discontinued! It is a really gender neutral smell, fresh and crisp. I got tons of compliments from men that I "smelled good" I loved to tell them it was a men's cologne, he he.
I also have worn Sugar by Fresh and Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue for years and I am ready for a change. This really will get me started.
PS don't you HATE it when a dancer drowns herself and her veil in perfume. I know we want to leave a lasting impression but nothing goes worse with hummus than a little Chanel no. 5!

Re: Favorite Perfume
I will go to my grave wearing Burberry London. It's my all time favorite. My second runner up is, Angel, by Thierry Mugler.
You can buy these two in any Macys, for sure. I don't know what Department stores are in Oahu. I do remember Macys on the big island.

Re: Favorite Perfume
My scents go by my 'bellydance moods' :)
Red Door (Elizabeth Arden...Baladi)
Volupte (Oscar De La Renta)....Drum Solo
Femme Fatale (very old perfume and the label is gone) ....Taqsim
Darling (Kylie Minogue)....veils...I spray my veils lightly with it as well and air them out to minimize strength of it
Wild Musk......Ghawazee.
Gloria Vanderbuilt....Saidi.
White Diamonds......ATS
Joop... Tribal Fusion.
Beautiful (Estee Lauder) ....when playing percussion
So what perfume I wear depends on my bellydance mood for the day :)

Re: Favorite Perfume
Michelle, we have a Macy's here now,and a Sephora! They have almost everything.
Veil dancer, I love the concept of the different dance personalities and different scents, I do that in my everyday life and I guess subconsciously when I dance too.
Sometimes I use the Victioria's secret body sprays when I need a little freshening up between gigs. My troupe and I call it "stripper spray" because of its not so subtle notes. Men seem to LOVE it though, I think it triggers memories of late nights out.

Re: Favorite Perfume
I'm a guerlain fan. Samsara is "Nadira's" fragrance. I only wear it for performance. It's very exotic and fairly bold, but with some nice complexity under it. I wear Jicky for non-dance stuff, which I LOVE, but it's hard to find.

Re: Favorite Perfume
I have never been able to afford "real" perfume but if I did, I would wear Gucci EDP (NOT the new one, NOT Rush, the original - it smells like drugs, in a good way) and/or Agent Provocateur (which also smells like drugs, in a good way). Donations gratefully accepted!
I love floral orientals and single oils. I would bathe in ylang ylang if I could. Lately I have been wearing a nice Body Shop oil called Cinnamon Spice, and which I like. The Body Shop had something quite neat a while back called Pink Pepper.
I'm told Cassandra always wears Opium to dance.

Re: Favorite Perfume
For evening wear - Givenchy's Amarige - oriental floral - I just love it! Givenchy's Ysatis is similar but a bit lighter.
For "everyday" I like Victoria's Secret Garden Amber Romance - makes me feel warm all over.

Re: Favorite Perfume
Have you tried Gendarme? I've worn it off and on as my everyday fragrance; it's technically a men's fragrance too, but you might like it.
I love Bulgari au the vert for spring and summer, Fendi Theorema for fall and winter.
And for dance, Bulgari Jasmine; light and exotic, but not so strong that it would taint the lamb with couscous! ..l;,
