It's beautiful - have you posted a picture of it before? It looks familiar.

Wow, that's gorgeous! Looks airbrushed. Is there a name for that technique? I don't think I've seen one quite like it before.

Re: Tattoos are considered "Beauty"...right?
Hi Lauren and thank you (and thank you everyone for saying such nice things!!!)!
Yes...the style is called "new school"...very different than the 'old school' which is black outline on everything (which I also love and have too!)
The artist is someone I met at a tattoo convention...his wife sported a huge blossoming rose on her chest/shoulder that literally stopped me in my tracks. I wanted to get a small lotus on my ankle..when I saw his work, I knew I'd found a really special artist and asked him to do the lotus (you can see a bit of the deep pink on the back of my calf) and then I returned a year later to start this vine up my leg...eventually, I'll have him add more lotuses and dahlias up my thigh...it looks awesome in costume!!!

Thank you all so much! I've been feeling a bit down and stressed lately, the ink has been a real pick me up...and sharing it with you all...my fellow dancers...has really made me feel terrific!
The artist is Jon Jon...he works at Cutting Edge Tattoos in NYC. If you're on MySpace and see my top friends...he's on there and has a mini portfolio of his work for all to see!!

That is really beautiful.
Nothing like a new tatt as a pick me up. I have fallen in love with Sharon Kihara's peacocks, which are also 'new school' tattooing.

They're beautiful! I love tattoos and have been thinking of getting another myself
Where are you located and do you have any referrals for the Seattle area?

Re: Tattoos are considered "Beauty"...right?
I guess the photo makes this look like a garden variety (pun intended Tina) pastel flower, but it's not...the work borders on Asian realistic, but stylized, it has about 6 colors layered so it looks VERY dimentional and different in person...

Alas...I am in Northern NJ and the artist is in NYC.
If you ever travel to the Big Apple...he's the man to see for flowers...
If you're in Chicago...you may want to get ink from Michelle Wortman or her husband Guy Achison (sp?) who really do incredible work...you can see they stuff also on MySpace: MySpace.com - hyperspace - 39 - Male - Illinois - www.myspace.com/hyperspacestudios

That is beautiful and so feminine. I wish I had the courage to tattoo but I change my mind to much. If I had one done now I wouldn't like it 5 years from now.
But yours is amazing, the artist is quite talented.

Gorgeous! I love flower tatts, and yours are particularly nice.
Got my first tatt for my 50th birthday, and I'm already planning my next one.

Gia - that is GORGEOUS - it looks more like it was painted on instead of tattoed on your body.

Re: Tattoos are considered "Beauty"...right?
The work you had done is gorgeous!! Very soft and pretty - love the shading. My upper back is done in what I termed "water color" as well. Now a bit on Mr. Aitchison/word to the wise - you need to book an appointment WAAAYYY in advance if you want him to do your work. I have wanted a piece done by him for years. Maybe the next one ;). His use of color and lighting is painful it's so good. I really should have had him do my back piece but when the bug hits, sometimes you just can't wait! Luckily we have some great artists in my neck of the woods. 'Cides, I think I would want him to do his own creation, anyway. I'll be quiet now - sorry to turn this into a Guy fan forum! Your work is lovely!!
