I'm excited! Warehouse sale!
I'm just so excited, I have to gloat...My partner works at UNC and one of their alum offered wrist bands to get into the Body Shop's warehouse, close to where I work. Apparently they open the warehouse for a couple of hours and you buy bags and get to shove whatever you want in them. The bags range from $5 to $20. I love the Body Shop. I really hope this meets my expectations. I *need* some new essential oils, perfume, body butter and make-up. Just in time for Christmas shopping too. I am even leaving work early to get there when it opens. Whoopee!
I'll report back later.

That is so cool! It brings back a fond memory of mine...
Back when I was working an office job and living in upstate NY, Eddie Bauer would take over an empty storefront once a year and fill it with stuff they were trying to get rid of. I was never much on regular Eddie Bauer, but the AKA Eddie Bauer line was more of a crisp and modern career look. The regular discount prices were crazy as it was - $5 for a blouse, $10 for a dress, $20 for an entire suit. But they would have these "blue light specials" where they would announce "For the next 10 minutes, all blazers are buy one, get one free!" You would grab what you could, and then a store associate would put a special sticker on it so the cashier would know you got it during the 10 minute limit. As a relatively poor account executive climbing the corporate ladder at the time, these sales helped me to build a professional business wardrobe at a fraction of the normal cost. I'd walk out with a green garbage bag full of clothes for under $200. And I still have some of the pieces, as the quality was stellar.

How sweet. yeah, when I lived in Asheville, they had a J Crew shipping center there, and once a year they would rent out an empty shop in a run down mall and you could get loads of catalog returns and overstock...for cheap! I haven't been to one of those in ages, but I assume this Body Shop thing is similar.

Re: I'm excited! Warehouse sale!
OK, so I got a TON of stuff and I only spent $30. I got there about 1 hour after it started and there was a LONG line. I was frustrated because I was about 45 min from home and I had to teach dance at 6:30, so I wasn't sure I would have enough time.
But the line moved fast enough. I picked the $15 bag and you went around this large square and tossed stuff from bins into your baggie. They also had premade "gift" bags (really grab bags) and those were $5 each. Those are really the way to go.
Because I had to hurry, I cut in line and sort of walked around people cutting in and grabbing. I felt bad, but my adrenaline was running and I got into herd mentality.
Anyway, they didn't have a lot of cool stuff that I wanted like make-up and hair products. It was mostly body products that they are discontinuing. Most were sample sizes. There was a good section that had some things I wanted, but I didn't get to them fast enough.
I did find some new perfume scents though! They have Magnolia, and it smells yummy. I prefer L'Occitaine's Magnolia, but this is good too. I also got giant bottles of their perfume oil and lords know what I am going to do with that. You know how the Body Shop has that "Make your own Perfume" section? Where you get to mix the oils...well these were the bottles that Body Shop uses to put in their glass vials. I think I will buy a load of unscented almond oil or something and make blends. They also had loads of white musk L'eau de parfum. White Musk is one of my all time favorite perfumes.
Anyway, the stuff that I wanted that they didn't have, I'll just have to go to the store to buy. In the end it's all crap that I don't need...but I have a weakness for beauty products. I always have. It's funny because I have a simple routine and I wear few products day-to-day, but I love collecting that sort of stuff. I am my mother's daughter after all.
And now I have Christmas presents for all of the ladies in my life. Just don't tell them how cheap I am...LOL. I guess this year with the economy and everything, I can justify being cheap! :)Last edited by andalee-oriental; 10-24-2008 at 08:52 AM.

I worked at WDW back in 93-97 and they had a trailer where there was a ton of stuff. It was for employees only and everything was 75% off. You had to looked through it...sometimes there was nothing wrong with it...sometimes there might be a small mark on a piece of clothing..or missing a piece to something...
I got some great deals back then...and a ton of disney shirts
