My Salomé Look
Pics from my Salomé performance, with fabulous costume, and makeup I couldn't have done without fellow Bhuzzers' advice - thanks, Magidah and everyone!

That ought to be a public link, viewable whether or not you have a Facebook account.
The head is a cast in the posed pics, and real in the performance pics - it's actor and comedy machine Art Wallace, head poking up through a table, trying to get my attention by yelling things like, "Hey, ain't you from Chicago?"

Did you make the costume? It's lovely.

No, I bought it from someone here. It's really nice. I made the headpiece, though.

Re: My Salomé Look
What music did you use, did you find something that sounded "period," or did you use classical music, or what? And is that the Beautiful Pizza venue in Portland, OR? I'm full of questions this morning, I'm avoiding doing some stuff I need to do, LOL!

That's fantastic! You really captured the era and the feeling with your headband and makeup.

Re: My Salomé Look
Thanks!
That's at Theater For The New City in the East Village. The show was fantastic. It was the tie-in for the book "No Applause, Just Throw Money", a highly entertaining history of vaudeville written by Trav S.D., who also hosted and wrote much of the show. His intro to my act was hilarious: "And nowww....from the precincts of the Holy Land...a dance as old as womankind itself, and when I say woman, I mean Woe, Men!" It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud under my many veils every time I heard it.
I used "Phaedra Pharoanica" and "The Sensual Cifte" by Eddie Kochak. It was the perfect blend of authentic and cheesy.
And I have to give major credit to Aszmara, who taught me how to dance with seven pieces of fabric of varying sizes. The act wouldn't have happened without her.

Niiiice, you look great!
I love the Theda stare/fingers at temples pic. :) The very first belly dance studio I went too had a near life sized poster of that picture. Love it.

Hey, thanks, you beat me to it! I'm going to play with these in Photoshop some more, maybe do some sepia or hand-coloring. And hopefully we'll do this show again - it was terrific!
