Thread: Is it just me, or does it look weird???

I have a thing about gold fringe. It matches my hair color. Gold fringe is fine if the bedlah or costume is also gold, but I don't like it on me if the costume is a different color.... I feel like it makes me look like I have some kind of body hair problem ..l;, . This is not me or my costume (I don't own any colored costumes with gold fringe), just a photo of a nice costume that I think illustrates my point...


Is it just me, or does it look odd when your fringe matches your hair and little else?

Never would have thought of the excess body hair if you hadn't mentioned it! I think it's lovely!

Now that you've mentioned it, it's all I can think of when I look at that photo.

I can't say it's ever occurred to me when looking at a costume before, but the effect is probably heightened by the particular placement of fringe on the costume above (only on the skirt, in a V shape).

I think she's beautiful, but I would add a little more makeup.

I don't think it's her hair color...but she does need something to 'top' it off, instead of looking like she's trying on a costume (but she is gorgeous)!

I can't put my finger on it, but she needs a little something more.

A Japanese dancer friend of a friend mentioned she can't stand long black fringe, because it reminds her of hair...now that friend...and I....get oddly disgusted by black fringe.


And I'm not particularly neurotic.

I don't think of excess body hair. I think the photo's nice.

I think you're good to go. I've personally never worn a costume with gold fringe, but as a fellow blonde, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. As stated above, I wouldn't have thought it if you hadn't mentioned it!!
(I wonder how redheads feel about red fringe.....lol!)

OK, Ozma, don't get me weirded out about black fringe, too!
It's looking like it's just me... But I'm not sure if I'll be able to get past it enough to buy such a costume.

The model is very pretty, but I hate that big ol' v-fringe and I see what you mean. I am not a big fan of the ladder cutouts, but the fringe is really the thing I'd like to see removed.

I rather like fringe in general, but I would like it better on that costume if it were blue... Or perhaps if it were worn by someone with black hair... And now that Ozma has gotten into my head, I think I would really dislike that fringe in black!

I think that if the costume had the fringe in clusters of a few strands more widely spread out it would look better (the way most of the lycra ones are). The most attractive way I've seen it done has been on Sims where the fringe starts out the colour of the costume and then becomes gold for an inch or two at the tips of the fringe. It's more visible than totally blue fringe would be, but looks like it "belongs" more than the gold fringe on this costume.

Really, I have more of a problem with the skirt!

Here comes the However~ For a costume that detailed, meaning ruffle on bottom, ladders on sides, long fringe, enormous appliques...her hair needs to have large curls or perhaps a crown to balance the top with the bottom.

I agree. I think the gold gives it a nice contrast to the blue. But would look much better in clusters than the wall o fringe. I also like those "gradient" style colors.

I have one with a wall of gold fringe but it isn't quite that long, in a severe V shape and I have brown hair so maybe this doesn't count.

The outfit pictured does need a gold necklace and headband to draw the colour up the body, to me.

I think the blondie looks fine. Strangely, it has been my experience that a lot of people like blondes in gold.

I agree that the dancer needs something though. She has that fantastic over the top costume and looks to me like bed head.... I hope she was just trying it on and not performing. For a performance, amp the makeup and do something with the hair and I think you are right Catwomyn about needing a headband....or something

So it took me a few days but now I know what is bothering me. It is the leaf thing above it. Looks like and "Eve" cover and then with the fringe hanging down it gives it a hair feel.

I agree with spreading the gold out with a necklace or headband as well.

i like this costume.It looks good.

Funny how everybody's opinion differs, and how different people notice different things. Now I feel confident the hair thing is mostly just my own little quirk... And after looking at that costume a lot, I think the beard-like shape of that particular fringe may be part of what made me think so strongly of "hair!" in this case. Colored costumes with gold fringe will probably still be the one thing that I can show restraint towards when they come up on the swap, but at least now I know it's just me (and maybe Ozma's friend in Japan).
