what's the best way to pad a bra
Normally, I only buy costumes where the bra cup size fits me right, but I couldn't resist and I bought a costume where the cup is about a size too big (I'm a full B/small C and this costume is a D). What's the best way to pad the cup to fill it out?

Re: what's the best way to pad a bra
So that I can easily remove the padding later, I actually bought some fabric with a slight stretch that I cut to fit the inside of the bra cups, usually along the bottom and sides. I sew it on, leaving a section open, stuff with the "stuffed animal" or quilting fluff you can find at a craft store, adjust the amount and positioning if need be, and then sew the last edge of my fabric down.

I buy "bust enhancer" pads from my local Jo-Ann fabrics store. You can get them in various sizes depending on how much padding you need. Then I just tack them in by hand in a few places to keep them from slipping. When I sell the costume, a couple of quick snips and I can remove the padding and reuse it on another costume. You might try buying a couple of different sizes of padding and see which works best for you.

thalia taught me how to do this. open up the lining of the bra cup on the bottom. and use cotton batting. just keep putting it in there in pieces until you fit the cup the way you want. :-)

Re: what's the best way to pad a bra
The above are all good. I've also used old shoulder pads cut out of clothing. Open the lining and put them in bottom, outer area of the cups -- tack them in place and close the lining again.
Twice I've had bras that were WAY too big and fixed them by suspending a bra-within-a-bra inside. Here's what I did:
Take a cheap underwire bra and cut it apart, discarding all but the two separate cups.
Remove the lining from the costume bra.
Sew the top edge of the lingerie bra to the top edge of the costume bra
Pad the empty space between the lower halves of the two bras
Replace lining.
Now your breasts rest comfortably supported by the right size bra cups, with 'normal' cleavage (instead of 'my nips might show any second' cleavage)/

My padding of choice is 2" foam from the craft store.

Also, it's important to put the foam in such a way that the most padding is on the bottom towards the outside (armpit side). If you pad too much you can also end up making the cups stand away from you, which requires modification of the bra straps.

Is it the green one?:)
The quickest and best way(for me)is to make sure to pad with shoulder pads *under* the lining,
and place them near the armpits/boob underside like Mihnea suggests.

If its just a little extra padding that's needed then I pin in sports socks, fluffy ones. Mmm cosy.

Thanks ladies. You are so smart. I tried a couple of these techniques last night to see what would work the best and it worked like a charm. Who knew I could fill up a D cup so well ..l;,
Emma -- no it's not the green one (I haven't received that one yet). It's a purple pharonics I bought not too long ago.

This is what I do. Only I use the poly kind, the cotton can get clumpy. I don't like pads of any kind because your girls, like the rest of your body are not the same size each. With adding the batting (he he, I rhymed) you can pad more on one side if needed and to the right angle. It's also more comfy on the girls than the pads IMO.
