how to clean the waterline without irritating eyes?
anyone come up with a good way to clean eyeliner off the waterline without rubbing or hurting the sensitive waterline?
something for contact lens wear-ers

I use a Q-tip, sometimes slightly moistened, held parallel to the lens and drawn gently across the waterline (eyes closed around the Q-tip sometimes to get both the upper and lower waterline). I also try to use a Q-tip to get "eye boogers" too to keep from using a potentially dirty finger nail near my eye.

I use olive oil on my eyes first. I leave it there for a couple of minutes and then very carefully, use either a Q-Tip or the egde of a babywipe to swipe along the line. I also pull the lower lid down a little with my finger to make it easier to get to the water line and not rub my eye either. I do wear contacts but I take them out before I take my make-up so I can rub on my upper lid with no fear of moving the contact around.

I use vasiline and an old soft cloth, like an old tee-shirt! I have VERY sensitive eye and this works best for me!

I use Neutrogena face wipes - the solution is pretty gentle and good for getting eye make-up off. While it can hurt if you get it directly in your eye - (if you were to wring the cloth out over your eyeballs) - if you pull your lower lid down a little like Linnyg was saying, you can easily wipe off liner with the corner of the towelette. They are really good for getting the waterproof stuff off, too.

Re: how to clean the waterline without irritating eyes?
I use and swear by a product from MAC called "Cleanse Off Oil". Since the day it came out a few years ago I have used it religiously and refuse to wash my face with anything else. It is an oil cleanser that I lather all over my face and rinse off with warm water. I am very lazy at night and don't have the patience or energy to remove my makeup with more than one product. Super great for when you want to remove the "makeup mask" after shows!!!! Not a stitch of makeup is left on my skin after.....even all my waterproof eye makeup.
Now you are probably hesitant on washing your face with an oil....well my skin is combination (oily in the T-zone) and it does NOT leave any oily residue after. In fact my skin feels cleans, moist, fresh and no "tight" feeling that I would get with a gel cleanser. I gently rub my eyes, skin, and lips with it and rinse off. I don't need a toner or anything after.....just my moisturizer:) My eyes are not ultra sensitive, although everybody I've introduced this product to is hooked.....even those with sensitive eyes.
Go to a MAC a location and ask them for a sample of it and try it out....really, it's fabulous!!! Pump like 3-4 pumps of oil in the palm of your DRY hands, lather and rinse! I don't know what I would do if they ever discontinued this product...:s

I use a Jane Iredale "Magic Mitt." It's a reusable makeup removing cloth that doesn't require any soap or makeup remover. I just put the cloth over the end of my finger, and use the small area at the tip of my finger to use the cloth to gently wipe off my eyeliner.
It's really awesome at removing those stubbon "lip stain" lip colors, too....no need for mineral oil or anything like that!
