Thread: Straight Skirt Examples

Hi ladies, need your help. Today our teacher told us that for our showcase she would like us to wear satin straight skirts with slits. I keep getting straight skirts and circle skirts with slits confused.

For instance I LOVE this costume from Moondance http://tinyurl.com/56egz8, however according to the description its a circle skirt? I looked on L Rose and what I saw of her straight skirts I dont think I would be very comfy in.

I guess what Im asking for is maybe some pics of straight skirts? I searched on yahoo but I didnt come up with much.

Here are links to some straight skirt patterns. The link from Moondance is definitely a circle skirt, which is different. Straight skirts are straight, and fit very close to the body.

Yeah thats what I was afraid of, with so little material Im afraid Im gonna feel a bit self conscious. Im already a size 12/14 with the majority of my weight being in my hips/butt/legs. So I never really show my legs if at all possible (unless we're going to the pool which is different altogether).

Perhaps you could ask you teacer if you can put an optional chiffon peice over the slit? Look at the picture I've attached to see what I mean.
You can make the chiffon peice wider than the one in the picture so that it covers your entire leg.

Im comfy showing some leg, I guess I just feel like two panels of fabric wont be very flattering and as a result make me feel self conscious.

Can you wear harem pants underneath? You can get them with slits so you still show a little leg, but you're more covered. You could also layer the long fringe belts underneath for added coverage as well.

I have a straight skirt with only one slit - it's a tube. It doesn't show too much leg, and because the slit is at the front of my left leg, it shows the best looking part of the leg (less cellulite on the front, lol).
