Re: Products you've tried recently - thumbs up or down?
Hi Jetgirl!
I keep hearing about the MUF HD line. It might have been too light (unless it said that it was invisible) and/or too much mica.
I haven't used powder on people in a long time; I don't think you need powder with silicone foundation; try buffing it in.
Back in the day I used to have face-whiter-than-rest-of-body issues...

Re: Products you've tried recently - thumbs up or down?
Hi Azhia, I've missed you! And I physically missed you when you came to the SF Bay Area, I was bummed. Look on the Steampunk thread because there is a link to all the other stuff I've been doing -- including putting together my own old-time vaudeville stage. I need to order your makeup DVD! I've been revamping my makeup lately. And trying new things!
The powder is supposed to be invisible, so it only comes in one color. It is 100% silica. Hmm, maybe I'll experiment with it and some flash pictures one more time, but if I have to be so careful, and I'm never sure I put too much on, what's the use? Basically I just wanted something to set the makeup, but maybe with this Face Atelier foundation I don't need it.
My other recommendation: Mac matte eyeshadows. I got 3 matte pigments and they are gorgeous, and add a lot of depth to stage makeup. A wee bit less aging too.Last edited by jetgirl; 12-30-2008 at 04:46 PM.

Azhia, this one's for you:
Went to WALGREENS today b/c we have a special employee 25% off day + lots of sale items, sooo...I went to Town! And guess what I found?? Bumble & Bumble hair products!!! I thought (now, correct me if I'm wrong!) there were a lot of rave about the Bumble & Bumble brand...? Can't wait to try them out. They were kinda pricey, tho...Kinda hope they don't work out for me Hehehe: Little 4 oz. bottles of BB Seaweed shampoo, conditioner & styling lotion spray ranged between $11-13!

Re: Products you've tried recently - thumbs up or down?
 Dermalogica Precleanse: I really like having a cleanser that takes off eye makeup at the same time. This does, but not as well as my Principal Secret Advanced 4in1. It comes out of the bottle like a thin oil, which is odd, but ok. You rub it all over your face with dry hands, and then introduce water to supposedly create a wonderful milky solution. Sure it turns a little white, but no milkiness to speak of, just disappearing product. To get it to remove the eye makeup you have to apply way too much pressure and rubbing. no thanks. I like the way it left my skin feeling (as always with Dermalogica) but the rubbing and the frustrating feeling of disappearing product, along with the price tag, add up to a thumbs down.
 Estee Lauder's Double Wear Zero Smudge Mascara: doesn't smudge, a gorgeous natural looking black, slick application (after you thoroughly wipe off excess ala Carmindy) and easy to remove. I've only tried this for normal 12+ hr day wear, not dancing, though.
 Estee Lauder's More than Mascara: Loved how this went on and looked, absolutely loved it, till it smudged everywhere and left me with racoon eyes. Might work for someone who doesn't have deep set eyes and never has moisture on their face.
"JUST OK":
Revlon Beyond Natural cream lipgloss: a nice yummy scent, taste, and color. Goes on creamier and wears to a thinner sheerer gloss. Sticky, though.
Neutrogena 3-in-1 concealer for eyes: It feels good and does give a bit of a tightening/lifting when you apply, but it settles into my upper eyelid crease as the day wears on, and I can see a line of it form later. I like that it does a lot of functions. Also spf 20. Seems to work better under mineral makeup than liquid foundation w/ powder. Jury is still out on this one.
Revlon Colorstay Blemish Concealer: difficult to apply, it sticks more to what you use to apply it with than your face. When I can get it to stick, I like it. I picked their lightest shade, which is usually right for me, and it's a bit too light. Seems to work better in combo with mineral makeup.

Re: Products you've tried recently - thumbs up or down?
I have to find the name of the other product I just tried the other day. In the "healthy" section of Jean Coutu; an amazing moisturizer that makes a superb primer as well.
Another product that does the same that I've been meaning to get more of for my kit is Embryolisse 24-Hour Miracle Cream.
MAC Fast Response Eye Cream. Was told that it works amazingly well. Did not see any noticeable results.
I preferred DHC's Eye Bright. I felt it worked better and I liked the gel better than the silicone-based MAC one.
My favorite new toys! MAC Lip Mix. These help with my mixing obsession...
P.S. JoanneRaks and I were typing at the same time with our "ups" and "downs." We share the same taste in neck accessories, too.
